I think Safe Haven. Like the 2nd best for acting and maybe the third best story...but second best of all (The Notebook is definitely 1/1 on that scale.

You're an idiot. The kiss/table scene in The Choice is by far the 2nd best of all his films. You are right that the notebook is the best but the Choice isn't even close to the worst...it might even be top 4.
