Stephen Hawking believes Earth’s days are numbered.

“I don’t think we will survive another 1,000 years without escaping beyond our fragile planet,” Hawking said Tuesday during a talk at Britain’s Oxford University Union.

This isn’t the first time the theoretical physicist has insisted that humans figure out where our species is going to live next.

In January, during a lecture series at London’s Royal Institution, Hawking warned that developments in technology will lead to global cataclysm. He listed “nuclear war, catastrophic global warming, and genetically engineered viruses” as looming threats to our survival.

And he’s previously admitted his ambivalence toward artificial intelligence, saying it will be either “the best or worst thing ever to happen to humanity.”

I guess I'm smarter than this invalid because the human race won't be around in 1000 years.

What if this is the natural recurring cycle for our species and has happened 100 times before with the exact same pattern. Humans reach an evolutionary plateau and self-destruct. The Earth reaches stasis and the cycle begins anew at the most primitive levels of life with only certain bacteria as the constant from one epoch to the next.
