The only mood altering drugs that inmates might get is something like Librium/Klonopin(benzos) for the drunks so they dont have an alcohol withdrawal seizure and die. This is only necessary for the serious alcoholics that drink around the clock. This was often an issue for the DUI/DWI inmates. Need a little something something for the jitters.

Even then, they'd only keep medicating a prisoner until the booze withdrawal symptoms pass which rarely took more than a few days.tops.

There have been cases of jails being sued for a loved one's death from an alchohol withdrawal seizure. Google search them if you want.

I was in a different state back in 2002-2007 so I can't say for sure how things work in FFX ADC but I'd imagine many things are more or less the same.

The medical team would check for alcohol withdraw symptoms in all inmates upon entry as a matter of procedure. Getting locked up and getting shit hammered go hand in hand so not surprisingly a lot of the inmates could be in danger if cut off cold turkey from booze.

So, they get to go live like kings in medical for a few days. It's not like heroin withdrawals. Withdrawing from opiates, from what I've seen first hand, is sheer hell but you won't die. Withdrawing cold turkey from alcohol (and benzos) can be fatal in the worst cases. But it's also relatively easy to treat. Just give them their meds for a few days, taper them off and their good to go.

on the whole, she's probably living a healthier lifestyle in lockup than she did when she was free.

If somebody thinks they are suffering from alcohol withdrawal they will admit to it if they think they will get medicated. Believe you me.


It's easy to spot people who need to be treated for alcohol withdrawal. You ask the inmate basic questions, such as how much have you been drinking? How long (as in days, weeks, months) have you been drinking? When was your last drink?

You breathalyze every inmate upon booking. You know a guy who blew a .24 isn't in danger of seizing up in the next several hours but if he tells the nurse he's been drinking a liter of vodka/day for the last month, he'll be monitored closely to see if withdraws take place. Believe it or not, people will lie and say they are heavy drinkers just so they get sent to medical and given pills. Happens all the time.

Withdrawal symptoms are easy to spot. Elevated blood pressure, pulse, sweating, shaking, trembling voice. It's a fucking mess but you only get to that point if you've been drinking every day around the clock. Guys that wake up and swig vodka. At some point it progresses from alcohol tolerance to dependence.

The weekend warrior who got wasted and got in a bar fight won't be in danger from alcohol withdrawal cause he doesn't drink non-stop.

Megan did a brief stint in an Ohio jail this spring. Supposedly it was a minor charge and was or will be dismissed if she stays out of trouble.

Because he undoubtedly WILL end up in jail, and whereas lizzie can probably adapt to jail, miz would freak out in there.

Eesh went to jail for tooting his horn at the Morenos as he tried to evade them while leaving a parking lot. The way I understand it, they mocked and baited Eesh in their continual harassment of the poor soul.

There is a special place in hell for people who taunt war wounded veterans suffering from PTSD.

The scuttle but includes Lizzie being in on the deal with the Morenos. Her jail time is karmic retribution.
