There are important things that people need to be distracted from, so the experts are going to be equally concerned with both, and for a very long time, with lots of press conferences and press releases timed to drown out other more important but less entertaining news.

The Bush administration issued terror alerts to drown out discussion. Obama's more circumspect. They don't do anything directly, but the machine working behind the scenes finds some distraction to occupy the masses.

Same strategy, different game plan.

Nothing.

But the fact that they are testing that chick/guy/whatever and it's even news is more about finding something to take the heat off of current political news than it is about whether a medal was given to someone who shouldn't have received it.

It's a fucking 100 meter gold. Not so important in the grand scheme.
