Replacing my old DVD/VHS VCR Combo

Do I need to buy one with a digital tuner? Can I still record to a tape, or is just DVD now?

Any suggestions what to look for when buying one, and where they are sold?

About 6 months ago, I bought a DVD recorder with a VHS in it from Phillips online. It has a digital tuner in it and I run my cable converter DVR through it and the picture is better than the DVR by itself.

I enjoy setting my DVR to record PBS shows in the middle of the night and then transfering to DVD for later viewing. It keeps my DVR uncluttered and I can loan the DVDs to friends.

Mine was refurbished and cost around $150. Well worth it if you want to keep some things.
