Trump is done
Posted by: Gerrymanderer2 ()

After yesterday and his response today he is seen as a threat to civil society. An existential threat to the party. Especially in any position of power. I expect the GOP to try to take him down at the convention by any means they have available to them. If they are not successful they may even go as far as to have a third party candidate run against him. They will sabotage his candidacy. That's a given now.

Just telling you whats going on in the Republican party. The Republican party as a whole itself is deciding Trump is a threat to the country.

I think all Republicans are a threat to the country myself but at least even Republicans agree now about their nominee.

No, they're not. In fact, people have realized how much of a threat / disaster the USA has been under for the past 7 years and that's why the Democrats are jumping ship to vote for Trump.

Gerry, no matter how much crap you try and make up, none of it's true. Just focus on keeping the shelves at 7-11 stocked and things will be fine.

The rumors of Trump's demise have been greatly exaggerated.

Chicago has shown us the anger, hate, and violence of the Democratic Socialists, which is being compared to the 1968 DNC convention riots.

We all know which party took office after those riots.

It's ironic isn't it. Trumps supporters are the same republican fringe zealots that they would not denounce in prior election cycles while now the old republican establishment is concerned that these Wal-Mart cretins will bring the party down. Makes you wonder if it were anyone else but Trump running if they would feel the same way. Hope all the Wal-Marters understand they are being thrown under the bus by the very politicians they support. But that's asking a lot given their third grade educations and in-breeding.

No, I am just talking about issues instead of attacking the extremists who exist on both sides.

Occupy doesn't represent all Democrats or liberals, the Bundy ranch doesn't represent all Republicans, conservatives.

I think Trump is at least moving in the right direction on borders and trade. Any opinions on the issues?

The very fact that you draw an equivalency between occupy wall street economic protesters and Bundy ranch armed terrorists that occupy federal buildings by use of armed force shows you have no business calling yourself objective and reasoned in any sense.

No, they are very different you are correct.

But the tactics of violence, destruction can be seen as similar. I support racial equality and I oppose police brutality, but I oppose BLM and the destruction in Missouri.

Can there be a conversation about immigration and trade without the knee jerk cries of racism?

First off thanks for the compliment.

I actually vote my wallet. I've voted for candidates from both parties in the past and will in the future. I just find it hilarious that when Mitt was running the Trump voters, including tea baggers, were useful to put the RNC candidate over the top so they couldn't afford to dismiss them as mindless dullards. Now they are saying that they don't represent republican values. Like republicans give two shits about hurting muslims feelings or shipping the Mexicans back across the border. Remember Chaney and Wolfowitz? What we are seeing play out before our very eyes is the RNC come unraveled. It is glorious to watch. Are there really people out there that believe Trump, even if elected, to do the things he has intimated towards? Build a wall? Ha!!! It will never happen and if we send 11 million immigrants back back there will be no workforce for Trump to build his buildings, change the sheets in his hotels or mow Mitt Romney's grass or take care of his kids. But then I guess that their Mexicans are the good ones and can stay. =0)

What a crock!!!

Borders and Trade. The Hispanic community calls Obama the Deporter and Chief. Democrats are the ones that protect workers rights not Republicans. Donald Trump is selling you a bag of goods to rise to the presidency. Where is he going to get the 15 billion dollars to build his wall? He's going to force Mexico to pay for it? He's going to get impeached in his first year of office and not get shit done. He's too stupid and authoritarian with zero knowledge of the Constitution.

Where were all these immigration centric voters when Obama was deporting illegal immigrants at unprecedented levels? They didn't give a shit enough then to give him credit for it. Did they? Now they're outraged. Get the fuck out of here with your slick con artist New York silver spoon real estate egomaniac. The mere prospect is ridiculous. Chuck I am one who actually thinks that Trump is an "improvement" for the GOP.

If the party moves away from the neocons and Christian fundamentalists I think it is progress. Why not focus on all Americans and American jobs instead of pandering to Bible freaks and greedy corporate "nation builders" like the PNAC?

That Mitt Romney has denounced the anti-immigration and Tea Party Republicans is not an indictment of Trump. It is an indictment of Mitt Romney and his country club set of neoconservatives.

I don't believe either Trump would be successful building some huge wall. I think his position is to bargain hard from one extreme. There is an illegal immigration problem in this country that is stifling the wages of Americans and draining local resources in schools and social services. This cannot be ignored.

I find it very disturbing that Clinton and Sanders embrace illegal immigrants and use them as an electoral tool. Not very different from Trump in my opinion.

Well said and I agree. You can't fault Trump for trying to succeed but at some point he is going to have to quell the ire of the trailer park crowd and play down the racism. Or at the very least take a stance on it, either for or against. Hell take a substantive position on anything. I'm not sure I trust him to just wing it for 4 years.

It's also completely hallarious that lately the RNC focus is on beating Trump and not the Dems. Pubs are so fucked up they can't see the forest for the trees. If you're an American citizen and an immigrant (legal or otherwise) comes and takes your job, than you cannot say they are unskilled and lazy. It also means that you probably aren't very good at your job and you are lazy.

I have foreign friends that have come here with NOTHING, got a low paying, unskilled job, came to work everyday, worked hard and slowly climbed their way up.
Without exception, the reason they took positions from any American worker is because they take it more seriously. Being American doesn't entitle you to a job. You have to be good at it and come to work everyday.

And what kind of job can you get away with that, waiter, cook, dishwasher, laborer? You know, the ones that Americans think they're too good for.

That rarely, if ever refers to high paying, highly skilled jobs.

Hillary and Bernie both want to grant amnesty now and keep the flow of illegals coming in. What part of that solves the problem?

Bernie's entire political history contradicts that notion. He is and has been for workers rights and wages. Hillary Clintons is the same.

Both of them have a way better track record on illegal immigration than do Chamber of Commerce Republican stooges.

Numbers is right. I am an American white field superintendent on commercial construction projects. I've witnessed first hand the move from an American work force. First to Asian immigrants that now own McLean and Annandale, to Latin immigrants and the fact is if you want to get it done with the least amount of bitching foreign workers are the way to go. They didn't TAKE your jobs YOU didn't keep your job. Nafta and other trade agreements that make it more profitable for corporations to move manufacturing jobs off shore are simply the collusion between government and business to oust the American union work force. Greed is killing this country.

Re: Trump is done

The Republican Party had a planned Univision debate as well. They had to cancel it after Trumps rhetoric and its effect. The fact is the not only did a Republican Senate pass the gang of 8 but Fox News and Rush Limbaugh not only conspired with Rubio to further that elitist cause but also conspired with Lindsey Graham 2 years before then on it as well. The whole entire Republican establishment both political and their propaganda arm on both TV and Radio has conspired on the issue of immigration for a very long time.

And Trump doesn't give a shit. He's just a vulgar egomaniac throwing red meat out there to further his political interests. The fact is Trump employs more illegal immigrants than any Republican out there.

Right now as we speak illegal immigrants are mowing Trumps lawns and renovating the Old Post Office in D.C. into a hotel.

Go drive to Pennsylvania Ave. and check out your savors profiteering from the hiring of illegal immigrant labor.

The work ethic is good with immigrants, but if you are cheaping out and paying someone less because they will accept less, you are part of the problem. I assume you use E-verify? If so, you are not talking about the same issue which is illegal immigrants.

It's what they both said in the last debate. No deportation, no wall. If they get elected, half of mexico will head north to collect all the free stuff they're going to be handing out. The American worker is done. Wages will plummet even more. Minimum wage laws don't matter when you can pay people less under the table. If you don't have a border, you don't have a country. You have insanity.

I don't employee workers. I work for a local municipality as an owners rep these days and over see the renovation of government buildings. I'm a government worker. But I do see this everyday and I agree, the bosses are going on the cheap with labor but so is corporate America by moving manufacturing off shore and a big percentage of that activity is brought to you by trade agreements like NAFTA and labor unions.

+1

The general contractors know it is going on, but they have distanced themselves from the legal ramifications. They are also the "job creators", probably more so than the subcontractors who are lower on the chain.

Twenty years ago, construction still employed a lot of folks who would commute from West Va or Pennsylvania and go home on the weekends. There used to be many blacks from Washington coming out to Virginia for work also.

You are right about the manufacturing jobs but both parties are guilty of supporting favored trade status with China, NAFTA and now the Trans-Pacific partnership.

I don't care how much of an asshole Trump can be, if he fights against this, he has my vote.

I am a double secret agent.

The deomcrats (Hillary Clinton) hired me to demolish the Republican party. I am then suppose to fall part my self (i.e. violent protests at my rally) and loose to Hillary.

However, I have changed my mind. Now that I have destroyed the GOP I want to continue my race to the Whitehouse. This November 75% of America will vote for me.

"No one in the history of American politics compares to the vulgarity of Donald Trump. In the history of American politics."

can't tell the difference between dem and rep establishment anymore. they are both so offended by the idea of allowing the American people to shape the political landscape. anyone who votes for marco or hillary is a total chump.

Yeah you can try to bunch Democrats in with your shit hole of a party but its not going to work. You did it, you finally completely destroyed yourselves. Couldn't of happened to a better group of people. Mitch McConnell started this train of unprecedented obstruction justified by the relentless demonization and belittlement of a sitting president whom was elected twice.

All so they could win the presidency. This is good for the country. Obstructing and shutting down America doesn't lead to positive political results. People will no longer follow this failed line of political strategy.

You reap what you sow.

How "done" is he now? Once he gets the delegate counts in the remaining primaries, which is the *real* given now, the GOP can't do a thing at the convention.

You say they climb up to better positions yourself. If you asked those in management positions that a citizen would love theyd tell you they have no papers.

Far from it. He will torture Gerry through Thanksgiving and Christmas. On 1/17 the fun will go into overdrive.

The largest presidential victory in the history of the USA will haunt G2 to his grave. He'll never see another democrat president in his lifetime. Democrats are old and dead.

Gerry, serious question: are you aware that the smug, know-it-all attitude that you and your fellow liberal Democrats evince is directly responsible for Trump's election? John Oliver is as responsible for Trump's election as anyone in westeran PA or Michigan. Though I did not vote for Trump, I can't help but take a huge degree of satisfaction that liberal smugness led directly to Hillay's loss. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
