Free AOL??

I am sure someone on here can find out what the catch is with free AOL. What AOL is saying is that you can have free AOL email right now. In two weeks you will have access to all AOL services, also for free, and this includes up to date virus scans.
Someone on here must know what the bottom line is and what you have to give up to get it. I heard AOL is losing so many customers that they are just going to give it away for free and then cash in on the ads. True?

here's an article on it: http://www.businessweek.com/print/technology/content/jul2006/tc20060731_168094.htm

it is true. details about the ads are not released but im quite sure it will not be able to be blocked. however, i wouldnt be surprised if AOL slipped in few ads everyone in a while into your email. on another note, AOL is based on Internet Explorer so this means nothing for anyone on Linux but windows users will be vunerable to everything IE is. many people have switched to firefox for it's sweet features including extentions so if you are a firefox user and use AOL, you can say goodbye to your nice features and hello to your new viruses. think about that for a bit.

From wikipedia:

"AOL has announced plans to offer subscribers classic television programs.....shows include Scarecrow and Mrs. King, The F.B.I., F Troop, and Growing Pains."

LOL- Scarecrow and Mrs King?? That's one hell of a marketing plan they came up with.

It took AOL this long to adopt the business model of a 1999 Dot-Bomb? They are even late to the crash. Good luck.
