Funny that a "science broadcaster" like Bill Nye the "Science Guy" would discourage debate.....

Which seems more scientific?

So true. Now let's debate whether the earth is round.

It's not perfectly round.

The circumference of Earth at the equator is about 24,902 miles (40,075 km), but from pole-to-pole — the meridional circumference — Earth is only 24,860 miles (40,008 km) around. This shape, caused by the flattening at the poles, is called an oblate spheroid.

Science, baby. One foot/meter at a time.

It's an oblate spheroid dimwit.

you realize at one point people thought the earth was flat

Let me extend your comparison with the picture below:

"Well it looks like the Guardian is saying 97% of scientist conclude the earth is round.....

*** 2 MONTHS LATER ****

...No wait, Washington Post reports 97% of scientist think it's flat..."

Yes, exactly. Now most of us know better. Except you teabaggers. And for Christ's sake, if you can't spell, please don't attempt to.

No one debates the shape of the Earth because if someone honestly doubted that the Earth isn't round - you can take them up into space and prove it.

That's what we call "scientific consensus."

If you noticed in the quotes I included originally - the message is question AND learn -- not simply question....

So yeah - comparing climate change to the shape of the Earth?

A scientific consensus is reached not when someone declares it, but when people stop asking questions
