The Earth shouldn't have a moon

In reality, the Earth formed too close to the sun to have a Moon. However, we do have one because of the Big Splash, an event that caused our Moon to form.

But without the moon, when would we have our Holy Menses?

You're missing the point.

The Watcher lives there. He gives us hints about Galactus.

......but, if we didn't have the Moon, we wouldn't have the tides that we do. Aren't they important?

It's actually just a theory at this point. It's currently the best theory to explain everything. There are some competing theories that have a shot at answering this as well.

Without the moon no waves?

Plenty of waves but no tides.

>In reality, the Earth formed too close to the sun to have a Moon.

I'm not sure this is the issue. The problem is that it's hard to explain how we got such a large satellite. The chances that the earth captured it after the both had formed are remote as it would almost certainly have slung off into space. So the basic idea is that the moon as we know it formed right about where it is now after a collision between early earth and a wandering body about the size of mars.

The moon also used to be closer to the earth. The dinosaurs saw a moon that was perceptibly larger-looking.
