(Dec. 22) -- It delights us to say that photos of Amy Winehouse on vacation make it seem as though the troubled starlet looks to be in the best health that we can remember. On the contrary, it pains us to say that the 'Rehab' starlet has found herself in a new tabloid whirlwind thanks to topless vacation photos.
Winehouse, who's had an ongoing battle with drugs and erratic behavior since she shot to fame in 2007, is making a splash across the British tabloids thanks to her revealing holiday, where she was photographed on the beach and on her balcony sans top. Still, despite the fact that the tabs are swarming over the nudity, they're generous with the compliments when it comes to Winehouse's appearance.

Dude, she's imitating a jazz singer. Nothing even remotely inventive or groundbreaking there, and oh yeah, it has the same production and musical qualities as all the other crap people think is so great.

As much as I wanted to trash her for being a puppet performer, when I researched it I found that aside from her CDs of covers, she wrote (at least the lyrics) the songs on her latest album, which was also her biggest seller I believe.
It isn't that common for big hit artists to actually write their own songs, so I have to give credit here.

I guess you just have a pretty low standard for genius. I expect more from people in the arts. I won't call over 99% of musicians in the modern world "geniuses".
Those other groups weren't doing an imitation for the sake of imitation. All those people you mentioned had a totally original sound when they broke out. But I also proffer that none of them are GENIUSES. Nobody in Rock is a genius... the music is too technically lazy for anyone making it to be considered a genius. Cobain was at best a genius of poetry and wordsmithery. He was also a douchebag who is given way way too much credit for the little he did for music.
Amy's sound is ALL imitation from top to bottom. Except for timing it during an era when the sound has otherwise no foothold in the industry, there is nothing even unique about it. It's just lazy.
