Starbucks is very low quality coffee, laden with pesticides. You can buy much better coffee beans at TJ or WF, buy a little grinder and make your own cup for way less.
Starbucks is not much better than McDonald's coffee, it's just marketed better.

Its a pretentious product for people with self esteem issues. HAsn't been cool since 2005 or so. The wifi is better than the joe.
I could really use a venti caramel macchiato right now.

Eesh/mike,
Im no prima donna about coffee, but if i have a choice its not starbucks.
And yes, Apple is super gay and for the technologically challenged to say the least. Its like seeing an 8 year old and an 80 year old both wearing under armor.

It's not the best but it's far from the worst. Their brewed coffee is not their strongest suit - always tastes burned to me. Their espresso is actually pretty good, although most folks'll never taste it as they sell vastly more lattes than shots. Nothing wrong with lattes (I like them myself, occasionally) but they're milk drinks, not proper coffee.
abelard, tell me about the Ethiopian coffee you used to drink.

A bit more than 1/2 dozen years ago in DC, I used to get my coffee from an Ethiopian coffee place that was about 2 blocks away from the old executive office building. About 1/2 block from the old exec building there was also a Peet's coffee. Both were very good. While the Starbucks were abundant, those two places got my money - especially the Ethiopian place. It was actually in conjunction with a law book store and if you went over to get coffee around noon, you'd see plenty of people eating Ethiopian dishes. Being a carnivore at the time, I really didn't care to stop for a bite, even though it smelled good.
There are a *few* Starbucks locations that are 24 hours. If you look up Richmond, there is one up in Fredericksburg and one down south of Petersburg. Kind of sparse. A few in DC and two out in the 'burbs.
I don't drink coffee anymore, so I don't seek those places out.

Order an Americano. It's espresso stirred into hot water. It gives you the taste of espresso with the consistency of a coffee. Order it with an extra shot of espresso, it's like rocket fuel.
When I want a real blast of caffeine I take four shots of espresso, throw it over a cup of ice and chug. After that, I am Superman (cue some prick to say Superman sucks).

We need more 24 hour everything. Tying business hours to some arbitrary angular position of the Earth is just crazy.
I don't go to Starbucks though because it is too mainstream now. I have switched to drinking battery acid from a quaint little shop down the street from my mom's basement.
