Then why do Christians consider it offensive? Isn't that the front line of the War on Christmas?

Most people (Christian or otherwise) dont know that "Holiday" derives from Holy-day. So both groups are confused. People also say "Xmas". They don't realize that in Greek, the letter X means "Christ".

Are you doing your part to defeat Christmas? Let's finally kill it once and for all and just call it the Winter Shopping Holiday.
It's not like Jesus was actually born on Dec 25th, anyway, the church just picked that day so that the ignorant pagan morons of Europe could slide from celebrating the Soltice into Xmas easier.
Religion LOL!

As if the "holy days" are anything more then a Roman spectacle of greed, the false impression of wealth and consumerism. So take your baby jesus and shove him up your ass,

What it really means = "Have a nice time during Christmas & New Years"
What it really doesn't mean = "Me and the liberal atheists are going to invade & destroy your Tea Party stronghold".

I like to say "Happy Holidays" on Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day. Confuses the shit out of people.

WHICH HOLY DAY. The Romans and Nordic peoples both had holy day celebrations in December around Christmas time. The Jewish lunar calendar usually dumps one of theirs around the same time. Throw in Kwaanza and Festivus and you have a good grab bag to choose from.

In ancient times they used to come out dressed like a Norseman. that's where they got the idea for Santa Claus from. it had nothing to do with Jesus.
