No understanding or respect for America and its history from the barely American son of Islam who was raised in Indonesia.

We won't mention he was asked to read the copy of the address written by Lincoln's secretary that is stored at the National Archives:

Why would he be asked to read a version that the rest of the people didn't read? This makes no sense.

The Gettysburg Address was a speech, not a piece of paper. The words that were delivered were written down verbatim by every newspaper that covered it as the time. Lame attempts to cover for this slimeball president who has done this on numerous occasions. As lame as he is, the sycophants who try and justify it are 100 times worse.

Ask historian Ken Burns that question, it was his call.

There is no known version that was actually spoken - a couple of the "Under God" versions were written months after the address. It's possible, though literally no one knows, that Lincoln winged the speech and added/subtracted words at the time of speaking.

But that is all moot.

President Obama was asked to read the version that he read; that version was written prior to the speech; that's really all that matters, regardless what version that happened to be.

Yet Another Really Silly "Scandal" from the wackos.

There are multiple "original" versions, and "under God" was not in some. This site covers this: http://www.google.com/culturalinstitute/exhibit/lincoln-s-gettysburg-addresses/wReow-98?position=0%2C33

Tempest, meet teapot.

What is the basis of this GOP-tard compulsion to criticize President Obama, literally, for every word he says (or doesn't say)?

I simply cannot remember anything close to this level of criticism of Bush (care to refresh my memory?).

The one on carved into the wall of the Lincoln memorial is the speech he gave at Gettysburg. It is the one that was published in the newspapers the next day and the one that Lincoln wrote in copies after his speech (to raise money for war veterans and fatherless children amongst other things). per usual, the left has no clue about reality or history.

LOL. Look at the brain-washed Kool Aid drinker accusing someone of being a brain-washed Kool Aid drinker by posting a link to a liberal media site that says Obama's not to blame because Obama's spokesgoon says it's so. Well, if the WH says it's not Obama's fault, that must be true, just like the BLS unemployment numbers that they made up for October 2012 and the video that was to blame for Bengahzi and allowing us to keep our current health care. What a retard you are.

You can't possibly be this stupid to think Carney's statement explains anything can you?

I think he read the version of the address that Ken Burns provided,” Carney replied. “I think Ken Burns is a noted Civil War scholar.”

I think? He can't even say for sure what happen.

FBG, this was lamer than your usual lame defense. Now that IS funny.

It's ironic beyond measure that GOP-tards are criticizing President Obama's reading of one of the five versions of the Gettysburg Address, for a project called Learn The Address, that itself lacks the phrase 'under god'. These cretins are angry that the President didn’t read words that were not there to read.

Of the 56 people who read it for Burns, no one else read that version and everyone else had the words, "under God" in their versions. Why would only Obama be asked to recite a version without that? Ultimately, responsibility for this unforced error clearly falls on the administration. I voted the president, but this is just plain stupidity. Why are trying to defend it? Just admit there was a fuck up and move on. You are no better than the idiots who defended everything Bush did and blamed everything on Speaker Pelosi and Harry Reid. Blind loyalty from either side is quite disgusting.

Really, the mania of those afflicted with Obama Derangement Syndrome (ODS) stems from the vacuum created when St. Ronnie left office.

St. Ronnie's reign was the ODS-sufferer's Camelot, and ascension on Bill & Hillary Clinton was nothing but an insult against their saintly idol. They tried mightily to destroy Clinton, but he was far too powerful.

Now, twenty-five years gone since they were cast out of power, the ODS-afflicted seethe with senseless anger, for they are fully aware of their own political impotence. Oh, the rail, cry, and scream in fury at their fate, but are powerless in the end to change much of anything.

It’s sad, really, what they have become.

These are the things that occupy the minds of Republicans. Rush Limbaugh said it so it must be a damning important revelation. A very large portion of our population is becoming ever more indoctrinated, retarded and aggressive. The corporate profiteers seem to be very good at hypnotizing the weak minded among us.

What this means for the future of this country is still to be determined. Although the argument can be made that it has already had an extremely degenerating effect on the civility, dignity and unity of the country.

Quick question for you Bill.

How many times did Abraham Lincoln give the Gettysburg Address?

Quicker follow-up question: The Address that was spoken in Gettysburg by Lincoln, did it or did it not contain the words in question?

2. Obama - An incompetent fuck up with personality.
3. Johnson - Killed 60,000 'nuf said.
