What is the Best Free Anti-Virus Software?

Malware Bytes used to be free now it is a trial version for 30 days and they want money.

In terms of how they are all used then really they all suck ass.

To get any benfit out of any of them to delete your infection it goes like this.


At work I scanned a known pc that was infected because it was doing weird shit.

7 antivirus packages could not find anything and black light kept finding ghostly remains of dead virus files. then black light would clean then I reboot and the dead virus files would come back.

So there was a hidden reinfector on the PC.

What I used to clean it for good was combofi which found everything.


But seriously if you are infected and you use your pc to visit your online bank after you think you cleaned it then you area fucking fool.

A banking pc needs to be reformatted back to its virgin slate with NO OS and no software on it at all.

then once install and drivers are loaded and you ran all windows updates then use norton ghost to save it all as one big file then next time you are infected then just slap the norton ghost back to the hard drive and you are up and running virus free within 15 minutes.

Avast is the best free antivirus by far.

Get Microsoft Security Essentials

AVG, their Anti Virus client only, don't bother with their other security program. Nothing free or that costs money compares to it.

MS Security Essentials is a decent baseline (low resource usage and free!) for XP/Vista/7 computers. If you are using that bastardized turd called "8", it's built in as "Windows Defender".

Malwarebytes is also always good to degunk a trashed system.

Avast has never let me down. Try not to use shitty browsers like firefox or internet explorer, that is asking for trouble. Stick with Maxthon or Opera.

You also need to get a dick cleaner so your scanner doesn't pick up a lot of false positives. run ccleaner before your run your antivirus.

Join the 21st Century and get a Mac.

I switched the whole family over a few years ago and haven't had a single virus and have never had to purchase anti-virus software.
