Who remembers this song from their youth? 1970 DOA. First heard it when my teacher in 4th grade turned on the radio during lunch and this came on.

A song but a dude dying from a car crash. A good Halloween song for all you boyz and girlz...

Lyrics:
I remember, we were flying along,
And hit something in the air...

Laying here, looking at the ceiling,
Someone lays a sheet across my chest.
Something warm is flowing down my fingers
Pain is flowing all through my back.

I try to move my arm and there's no feeling
And when I look, I see there's nothing there.
The face beside me stopped bleeding
The girl I knew has such a distant stare.

I remember, we were flying along,
And hit something in the air.

Then I look straight at the attendant,
His face is pale as it can be.
He bends and whispers something softly,
He says there's no chance for me.

I remember, we were flying along,
And hit something in the air.

Life is flowing out my body,
Pain is flowing out with my blood.
The sheets are red and moist where I'm lying.
God in Heaven, teach me how to die.

I remember, we were flying along,
And hit something in the air.

Right now nomads are fighting each other in Sudan, fatalities are over 800 so far this year, and all you can do is listen to a 40 year old song?

^LMAO

I actually just downloaded this song a few months ago. I remembered it from some late night commercial for classic rock CD's, it used to be on back in the 90s. Never knew what the song was until recently, I just always remembered the chorus part and finally figured out what it was earlier this summer.

Ah, it was on a Time-Life music collection commercial, the 1970-1971 album.

Sorta weird how a song can stick in your head for that long without knowing what it is,

It's alright.

I like a Hammond organ on some oldies, but this is a little doomy.

I never heard a full 8 minutes of it though and I do like the crude production values and raw excess of the 70's.

Solid B.

Your teacher didn't turn the radio off? She sounds like some kind of witch! Anyway I have that song in my collection of 45s. I think I got it on ebay, or maybe it was Record and Tape. It gets a lot of spins.

only heard half the words of any most songs. 1/2 deaf.

my guess is i'm better off not knowing what they said !

i heard greaseman though ! halarious !

no teachers made fun of my hearing problems and down graded me, told me "get a hearing aid" (no one would though). i've been meaning to sue them about that.

I ran across this song a while back while I was surfing youtube for old doom and psychedelic rock. The 70s was full of obscure bands that publiched one or two albums of good stuff that never made it to the radio. This song, meh, it's okay.

Goldmine magazine a few years back listed this song as the worst song ever made.
