"I'm not racist, but... [racist observation]"
I'll admit that every time I go to Tyson's Corner Mall, I do notice the fact that the average complexion is a bit darker than mine, but other than the general low class nature of Tyson's I that has existed ever since I moved here in 1980 when it was probably 80% white, I don't think that's all that bad a thing.
You do realize that DC is an international city, being the capital of the US, and having Embassies from almost every nation in the world? I don't know for actual figures, but I wouldn't doubt that some of the larger embassies have several hundred to maybe even a few thousand people working there.
Plus you have businesses from all over the world with offices in this area.
All the hicks who believe that everyone who "looks foreign" must be here illegally are simply being parochial or provincial. They can't comprehend that many "foreigners" are here with work visas because they are doing business and trade between our government and corporations and their nation's government and corporations. Even the cab drivers you see are obviously not illegal, or they couldn't get licensed to drive a cab, they are probably political refugees, or war refugees, or they paid dearly to come to this country.
What's funny is that the people who complain the loudest about all those damn foreigners who keep taking our jobs and not paying taxes are usually the least educated and least willing to work hard to get ahead. At least those "damn foreigners" put forth enough effort to get here, and they came here with a goal of working for the American dream, they could live poor and live off the government back home if all they wanted to do was sit on their asses and complain about how it's the "other" guy's fault.
