On April 13th 2017, Samuel Kwarteng a resident of our community was murdered while at school at Virginia Commonwealth University. He was shot in the back of his head with his hands up while leaving a fellow classmates house. Samuel was 20 years old, and on the verge of graduating with a electrical engineering degree.

Members of the community have created a non-profit organization in honor of Samuel. Acquiring Knowledge for Transcendence is hosting an Annual Scholarship Tournament to help overachieving underprivileged individuals in their pursuit for higher education. Also, the tournament is being used as a back to school drive for local high, middle, and elementary schools.

A tournament of this magnitude is not cheap. We ask our community to assist us with the costs to hold this tournament that will occur at Mount Vernon High School on August 5th and 6th. Any donation will be much appreciated for we as a community are the only people who can positively effect the youth.

My good man, the way to end senseless gun violence is to tell these young colored boys to stop shooting each other. You do not require a few sheckels from my pocket to further that cause.
