Moving into PWC this summer, would like to know the pros and cons of the local High Schools in the area. Knowing this will decide which end to buy in. Which are over crowed, which ones have “issues”, which have a good selection of sports/teams and who has the best “program of study” to offer? I have 3 kids all entering HS in the next 5 years!! Thanks for your help and advice in advance!

I graduated from a Prince William County high school in 2005. That being said, all of the schools in the County have their pros and cons. Most of the schools have specialty programs: Gar-Field has the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, Osbourn Park is a science school, Woodbridge is a fine and performing arts school, etc. As far as sports go: Hylton has (in my opinion) probably the best football team in the area. Forest Park and Hylton have decent soccer programs. I would avoid sending your children to Freedom High School. It's the newest school in the area, but the neighborhoods that go there aren't the greatest. While my child will be attending my former high school (Gar-Field), if I had my choice, I would send him to either Hylton or Forest Park. The neighborhoods are more "upper-middle class" than some of the surrounding areas. Just my opinion.

stonewall had IB, but from what i understand it did most of the students no good once they got out of high school.

last i checked, all of the public schools are overcrowded
