Cyclists are actually expected to be on the road, not the sidewalk. Granted they are still accountable to the rules of the road, but many vehicles don't follow those rules either. Ideal would be more separated protected bike lanes, but the idiots in power instead want to blow money on widening roads to create more traffic.
