I visited this past weekend. I really would liked to go closer in the buildings. The place is fenced off with US Government restricted signs. I wonder why this place is being protected and why the area has not been developed. Any ideas?

I am planning on going there soon. There are a few other places I want to visit. I generally look on Google Maps and see if there is a side street to it. I will ride my bike there early one Sunday and check it out. It looks on form the map that there is an alternative way to get into that area but the only way to confirm is to go there. As of last year there is a few buildings still up. But like the prison I am sure this place will get developed eventually.
