As the Grace Church vestry meets tonight to talk, inter alia, about the 2019 budget and the church’s declining finances, here’s a useful inflection point: A completed copy of the denomination’s internal controls checklist, which should be completed every year as part of the annual audit. As you will see, despite Dysfunctional Bob Malm’s 29 years with the church —- or perhaps because of it — internal controls at the church are a hot mess. I mean, why pay Bob more than many bishops, at almost $200K a year, when he can’t even be bothered with basic aspects of his job like this? And what does that say about the church’s lack of respect for people’s donations?

Hmm, maybe it’s because Bob believes he has little people to do stuff like that. Bubba himself would much rather be playing golf, jogging, or hanging out at the beach for a month at a time, I can assure you.
