This may be a shot in the dark, but...

Does anyone remember what store used to be at the intersection of Lee Highway and Jermantown Road in Fairfax in the late 90s? The building is a Walmart now, and before that it was an Expo store and then a Food Lion. It was a store kind of like Target or TJ Maxx. If you can figure this out, I will love you forever.

Ames?
Zayres?
BEST?
Service Merchandise?
Woolworth's?

Now that I think about it....could it have been a Hechinger's? I know they were a hardware store....

None of those sound familiar, and I tried Googling each of those names with the address and didn't get any hits. For some reason I also recall the name of it starting with a C, but that could be wrong.

It was Caldor, Best was located at 236/50/29 Junction where the Washington Sports Club and Office Depot are currently located.

Bradlee's was over by Fairfax Circle unless there were 2.

YES! That was it, thank you so much! It was really bothering me, haha. I always used to go there in the 90s with my babysitter. Doing some Googling, I also happened to find this:

Glad you found it!

The Caldor was down the road a bit, wasn't it? Even that link has it at 11111 Lee Highway.

There were 2 Bradlees - they also had one in Burke.
