I saw a sign for "Donato's Pizza" opening at the new strip mall near Mosby Woods and the fire station on Rt 50 in FFX City. Anyone ever heard of this place? Any good?
They are also putting in a 7-11 and a Subway, because we need more of those.

Very good (for a chain) pizza, but a horrible location. Not the most convenient place for carryout and the traffic on 50 could make delivery a nightmare. I might pick up a pizza if I am in the area, but as a go-to, local place I will stick with Paisano's.

They will be closed down by January because of that crappy location.
I've been to the one in Vienna many times and they have very good pizza, strombolis, subs, breadsticks etc. Baked fries arent exactly my thing but they aren't bad.
very few pizza places actually sell by the slice and if they do its crapy boring pizza. Sometimes i just need slice not the whole pie.

Pizza is terrible at the one in Vienna. The sauce is much too sweet and the crust isn't my type. The Extreme pizza that opened up also right near there isn't as good as the one in Richmond that I love.

They're offering $13-$14 for delivery drivers (now hiring) and yes they are opening soon there as well as Smashburger (national burger chain) and a fast casual chinese restaurant.

If this place is as low class as Mangina's in Burke, then you can bet the drivers will be sex offenders! It's going to be across from those dilapidated motels where many of them live, so it's looking good!

The Italian sub I got at the Donato's in Vienna was pretty bad. Maybe if they had not drowned it in their really gloppy Italian dressing, it might have had a chance.
I like the pizza OK, but realize that it is different enough that opinions will vary widely.

I always order dressing on the side, and to be honest sometimes use italian from home. I suppose I could have mentioned that :)

That whole strip mall is in a bad place. The shops are small, the parking is limited, it will be a pain in the ass to get in and out of during rush hour (it's right near one of the worst chokepoints on 50 in the afternoon) and so far, there is nothing compelling to anchor it. I suspect there will be a lot of empty stores there for a long time.
Did they every fill all the stores down there by Zoe's kitchen?

I'd rather eat raw Pilsbury's bread dough with cigarette butts in it than have that "pizza" at Church Street Pizza in Vienna...awful..

Just visited there for the first time a few days ago. The meatball sub's nothing to brag about either. Very obvious that they use frozen, processed meatballs, and they serve it on garlic bread that was very salty. Good tomato sauce though, but not good enough that I'd order another one.
