I recently received 3 cameras that were my deceased Grandfather's (R.I.P) and they all have film in them. I only just got into film photography myself, so I know very little about the make up and age of the film. The film has remained in the cameras, which have remained in a box in a dark closet.
The cameras models are:
Argus IRC (1937-1941),
Brownie Hawkeye Hash Model (1949-1961),
Brownie Holiday Camera (1953-1962).
We do not know much about our Grandfather as he died when my Father was too young to remember. If we could get this this film developed we could learn a great deal about him hopefully. Where he had been, what he had seen, what he had done, etc. Perhaps there are photos of my dad as an infant, or vacation photos of my grandparents. Who knows.
If anyone has the ability to develop film this old, knows who to contact, or where to get it developed, my entire family would greatly appreciate the help. We are not taking this to a mere CVS.
Thank you.

Have you thought about the possibility that you may find some unsavory and unsettling things on those images on that film? Whatever secrets your grandfather had were buried with him 50 years ago. Developing this film may unearth something that should not be brought to light.
Just a thought.

Klinton,
I did think of that, and if that does happen, then this mission will be more successful than I hoped. Of course, if what I see is WAY too unsettling, like along the lines of 2 Girls One Cup, then the pictures will be "brought to the light" of my Bic's flame.
If it's black and white, you can do it yourself, I would stay away from photo craft in burke. Take it to ace photo in ashburn.

Hey...bring it down to the Fotomat where I work in the parking lot across from the Cardinal Plaza Shell station. We'll get it back to you in a couple of weeks...

They won't let you in jail with a lighter, the outfit developing it will probably have the cops there to have a word with you before you even see the pics. "I didn't know it was chilpr0n" will fly as well as the "I found the counterfeit money" line.
Film that old? Background radiation overexposed it long ago. Maybe if it was stored in a lead vault...but it's probably still bad. Any image that was there is most likely totally washed out. Good luck.
