Does anyone else despise Fairfax, VA as much as I do? It's got to be the worst place ever designed to breed people on Earth.

I am disappointed, and in some ways disgusted. There are a lot of issues, compared to years ago. There have been improvements too, technology, low tax base, economy, etc, but its lost a lot of that "small town feel" with backed up roads, really intense atmosphere, and people that seem to think their shit doesn't stink. That's my opinion, like the old phrase goes, but yes, Fairfax isn't as good as it used to be. When I'm retiring, I'm outta here.

I know what you mean, that's why I moved out to Loudoun back in the early 90's. I was able to get a nice job for a modest price, now its worth a fortune.

If that's the way you feel, consider relocating. I suggest Detroit, Michigan, Bronx, New York, Camden, New Jersey or perhaps Compton, California. Good luck!

If you don't like Fairfax, inner D.C. is nice. Have you considered some of the housing around Benning Rd? or maybe something pretty in Anacostia?

Try it! You'll be glad you did!

For added convenience of the Metro, you can live off of the Red line instead of the Orange line. I do highly suggest you try something off the Metrows Red Line

Aww, poor yuppie kid that's never spent any time outside a metropolitan area thinks Fairfax is the worst place in existence.

Get out and see a bit of the world. Check out Haiti. Hell, check out Southwest VA. Then come back and talk about how horrible Fairfax is...

Sooooo, what's keeping you here? If it sucks so bad, pack up and move to a better place.

It's not so much the place as the times we live in. There are many more people living in America and many more in the whole world for that matter than there were just 40 or 50 years ago and the whole trend is just accelerating. There is more competition for everything (roads. jobs, food, oil) and that means more stress---not just in Fairfax---but in many, many places. The answer is not to move. The answer is to find your own personal refuge from the problems of the world. Find what makes you relax and what makes you happy. Avoid the things that make you stressed as much as possible. Find joy and don't let anyone else define what that is for you.

Yeah, this area's terrible. So are most of the people. And they can't drive worth a damn either.
