Fairfax county posts DUI checkpoints the morning (sometimes evening) before they happen:

Check it out before you roll out.

Yeah. Keep thinking that. They only put some of the DUI checkpoints up there.

There was a DUI checkpoint on Rt. 29 at Stone Road on the 22nd of September and you may notice that it isn't listed on that site.

It took me all of 5 minutes to get through.

OH NOS! 5 whole minutes!

I looked at a lot of the results and they hardly ever arrested anyone for DWI. They have like 15 cop cars and bright ass lights, they should be doing something else instead of wasting everyones time and money.

perhaps you havent noticed but if you try to "do something about it," you get your ass thrown in jail. the alternative is to silence you.

the bottom line is that nobody really gives a shit except whining bitches who would still yell louder than you if you ducktaped their mouths shut. if they pull over drunks that's fine but these checkpoints are useless.

Missed the one they were setting up in Springfield by a few minutes on Friday night. If you think they are out to get you in Fairfax County, it's because they are! They have very few other law enforcement priorities besides DWI, certainly none that get the public attention, manpower and taxpayer resources this does. I have gangs drinking malt liquor and hanging tennis shoes from the trees behind my house on weekends in a very nice part of Fairfax County and they can't be bothered with that, they in fact encouraged me to go talk to gang members. Yeah right! They can't do anything because they have every cop out on DWI patrol or running roadblocks. Hopefully the next big terrorist attack isn't on a Friday or Saturday between 11pm and 2am.

I for one think DUI Checkpoints, are unconstitutional, and a huge waste of taxpayer’s money. Any decent defense attorney, can defend against a DUI charge, which occurred at a checkpoint.

As a result, myself and a group of likeminded individuals, now purposely drive through these checkpoints, many times throughout the course of an evening. We purposely make ourselves look like a good candidates for further investigation, and in essence waist the FCPD time. We have been threatened with other charges (i.e. obstruction), but to date we have never been taken to the station to see the magistrate.

If you’re really board on a Friday night, and plan on being sober, give it a try.

Just add yourself as a follower to the twitter account. As soon as they put up a roadblock someone always tweets the locations. You can't fight technology.

Drucky:

That is an exellent idea!

Not only would it benefit those who wish to avoid them, but also those of us whom plan on going thought them.. Typically we review street maps, and are able to hypothesis which roads they will choose. When one person finds the checkpoint, they text all of us.

Your method would certainly get the information out to a wider audience, and save us some money on texting!!

I'm confident you'll be able to answer this question for yourself once you learn to use the google on the internet machine.

I like the cut of your jib, TrickyDick. DUI checkpoints are flatout unconstitutional. How are we living in a supposedly free country where you must now "have your papers" with you at all times, in the event the local Keystone Kops decide to do lazy police work that accomplishes nothing and wastes a bunch of money? Innocent till proved guilty? No, of course not! We're gonna pull over your sober ass just because we're lazy policemen and we truly have nothing better to do. This is the kind of thing that lulls a society, over time, into utter compliance with the government. You start small--redlight cameras, DUI checkpoints--move on to illegal wiretapping, surveillance--and before you know it, it's all over, Johnny! Illegal prison camps, illegal search and seizure, conviction by military tribunal---We aren't the first people in the world to think totalitarianism in our own land is simply unthinkable. Keep that in mind. It's only a matter of time before it affects you and me--every one of us--and not just the new Muslim neighbor down the street.

Political Misery.

Mr. Misery – I have a special place in my heart for FCPD. I live in a neighborhood where the average age is 65+. I bought my house in 2003, and to date, I am the youngest in the neighborhood by a long shot. Now I am not complaining, my neighbors are nice, and the watch out for other people’s property.

What does bother me is; since I have moved to this neighborhood I have been stopped four times in the last seven years for Misc minor traffic offenses (i.e. Speeding, Failure To Stop at Stop Sign, etc). In all of these cases the officer tried to gain access to my vehicle, or conduct a field sobriety test. The stops were legit, and I did commit the traffic offenses, but there is no way, there was any probable cause to suspect anything more than the traffic offense.

The first time I let them search my car, and then after that, I began to deny them access to my car, and in general I refuse to answer any of their questions which were personal in nature. This was of course followed up with intimidation, and shallow threats. They simply become “unglued” when someone stands up for themselves.

From the experience I have had, it appears as though Fairfax County likes to recruit the kids whom were either bullied in high school, or just could not hack it in the military (which I did). In fairness I do know one police officer (personally) from Fairfax County, and he is a good person, but the ones I seem to run into, are way over the top, and abusive.

There are two main twitter accounts that report roadblocks in Ffx county. You'll have to find them yourself. Ask your druggie and partier friends, I'm sure they'll give you the twitter accounts to follow. The twitter accounts are very accurate. I think the one has something like 10,000 followers.
