There is a local radio station here in Washington DC that's entirely listener-supported and has no corporate sponsors or even commercials. They do this membership drive thing every winter to come up with cash to keep the thing running. This year they seem to be coming up shorter than ever before. If you like the idea of sponsor-free media, I encourage you to check it out. These guys don't answer to anybody but the FCC (which is total bull, but that's another thread.) They're members of the Pacifica Radio Foundation.
