Vienna Virginia Hay Bull.. I was with Lou when the club started. He lived in Wheaton MD. Till we moved in together in Vienna VA. I am pretty sure I have told you all this, but originally the Pagans was a motorcycle racing club along with showing his bike, the Valhalla. Lou loved working on bikes, customizing them and being around other bikers with the same interest. He was a man of many identities and interest. Our first date consisted of going to a Beatnik bar, listening to poetry. He had a goatee only in those days. I think originally his goal was just enjoying the things he created with bikes, not so much the people. I know when the club turned 1% he was concerned for the trouble we were getting into. He had a good government job and that was put in jeopardy with the club. He still hung around the guys but turned the club over to Fred Burhans (Dutch).. as to was he proud of the club. No he was not. He was really blown away with how it took off and grew, but really wanted nothing to do with the violence, as was the case with many of the first members. Not what they had signed up for... It certainly was not planned to be anything more than racing/creating/building bikes.

Bull, we need to get this stuff written down.It’s such important local history. I’m a writer interested in local history and how the Pagans started. Reach out if you want tell their story.

I have hundreds of pictures of my brothers ranging from the 1960s up to current date. Also I own Lou Dobkins last remaining belongings that he owned before His death in 1989. I’m close to his widow sandi and his nephew. I have over 100 hours of audio recordings that tell stories of different stories on different pagans. I own a scrapbook which displays the ugly history of the club and some of its members which include those that turned informants, prior law enforcement, current law enforcement members.as well as former District Attorney Members. And Correctional Officers prior/current membership. Have hundreds of newspaper clippings and have information stretched over several different platforms containing everything on the pagans mc.

The pagans mc didn’t start until 1965 and they started up in Vienna Virginia area. Even though most members lived in Maryland they still commuted to the basement of Lou dobkins brothers house with himself and 9 original members.
