lightning strike in Mt. Vernon?!?!

That was the loudest lightning strike I have heard in a looooong time. Didn't get the scanner on in time. Anyone have any details or hear it?

Yes, there was a lightning strike in Mount Vernon. And in Fairfax. And in Centreville. And Arlington. And DC, Leesburg, Vienna, and....sTFU

Yeah, a lightning strike is pretty damn exciting, but by no means is it fun.

I didn't know lightning itself made noise. I thought it was a heated discharge channel causing a shock wave (air shock wave making noise).

Indeed I have noticed the lightning strikes getting louder and scarier every year. Perhaps this is due to global climate change? I think so.
