You should file a report with a police or at least inform them. The best will be if you still have their business card and will send a copy to Ferrari company otherwise they will continue to fraud innocent people and play with their emotions. Not good.

Same shit different day. In the greater Seattle area and dude pulls up to me at a gas station and pulls the same con.

Watch out for a Mr. Giuseppe L. Red flags were flying the whole time he was talking. Not to mention he said he was lost trying to get to Seatac. I was at a gas station on my way to the gym... Over an hour away from the airport.

He pulled every trick that's been posted on here. Touching the product, the lighter thing, tried talking me down, all that. Even flashed a fat stack of $100s talking about he didn't need the money. If it sounds too good to be true it is. Sounds tempting but don't bite, keep it moving.

my boyfriend met this guy yesterday (8/22) in RENTON, WA.

As my boyfriend was getting in his car he was stopped by an italian man asking for directions to the airport and then he was offered a "free sample of Armani" for giving the man directions. The man flashed a huge wad of money in front of my boyfriend and then gave him his card when my boyfriend declined the "free sample". He definitely could tell it was a scam.

Yes I got stopped at the Canadian Tire store on the Queensway. A big white SUV. A designer for Harry Rosen at Yorkdale. Asked for direction to the airport. He thanked me and offered me a gift. Pulled out a bag full of leather and suede jackets. He lost $9000.00 at niagara casino. Has his plane ticket and no money and needs to buy his daughter back home in Milano Italy. I thanked him and said no. Gave me business card. ( Luigi S. Designer LUIGI@LIBERO.IT )

Watch out for him

Similar scenario just happened to me in Chicago, IL.
- White complected, really short hair, heavy Italian accent dude pulls up in a Kia, Soul
- Says his plane is leaving in about an hour
- Has 4 jackets ... customs fees are too much ... shows me his "Italian passport/boarding pass"
- Asks for $200 and he'd give me the other 3 jackets "free"
- Puts lighter to one of the "leather" jackets

I didn't end up falling for it, it just seems so weird to me. He was extremely nice and I didn't have a bad experience with hi; he seemed like a nice person but something just felt so sketchy.

Unlucky for us this is still ongoing. One Italian speaking man came into the restaurant I was working at and asked if anyone spoke Italian. I did not so I spoke to the chef and they had a conversation about clothing just sourced in from Italy and so forth. At first our chef said no to buying them then the man became very persuasive and gave a speech about coming from the heart and so forth which in turn wore down our chef who paid $250 for 3 jackets :( What a way to start a Sunday! And we had just opened for business!

Same scam in Calgary. I just came out of the liquor store. I was approached by a guy in an expensive Buick SUV rental who asked for directions to the airport. He claimed he was Italian and got lost. Being a nice guy, I gave him detailed directions. He was very thankful and gave me his business card; Francesco De Martino, Manager, Armani Collezioni. Then he told me this story about taxes he would have to pay if he took his merchandise back to Italy. Then he handed me 3 Italian leather jackets all wrapped in a Armani bag purportedly in my size Large. In exchange, could I give him some cash for a gift for his son??. $200?? He could escort me to the ATM.... I hesitated and he persisted. I went to my car and he followed. I took a closer look at the jackets. One was XXL, one Medium, one XL. I tried a couple on. Poor fit, etc, etc... I then said "NO, I don't need another leather jacket...". He kept reducing his price. One jacket fit OK and he took the $45 cash that I had in my pocket, grabbed all the bags and took off. I should have known better. There is a different odor in my home since my new "Armani calf skin" leather jacket arrived. At least it only cost me $45.... I will give it to Goodwill. They may get $20 for it.

Same basic story as reported by Steve-O () August 10 2014. Italian guy alone in Ford Escape at a Shell station in Kanata, Ontario asks me directions to airport then offers several gifts of leather Armani jackets. As story unfolds, he wants $500 to buy an iPad for his "baby". When I say no, price drops to $300. I still say no, and he took back his "gifts" and left.

I was almost a victim of my own greed. Beware.

Same deal for me yesterday at Lonsdale and Spadina in Toronto. My daughter works in the fashion industry so I am aware of high duties when you take samples across the border. Anyway, like the other situations, it was a white SUV. The driver, who was passing himself off as an Italian who worked in the fashion industry in Milan, asked directions to the highway. I told him and we struck up a conversation. He then did his routine. He gave me the business card attached below. He was quite disappointed when I did not pay for the one jacket in order to get the others "free". It was too good to be true but until I found this web site, I wondered whether I had made the right choice.

Got me today in Vaughan, Ontario at a gas station. Skinny bald dude with an Italian accent in a white Ford Explorer asked if the airport was close. After I gave him directions he said he had sales samples that he had left over and didn't want to pay duties again. All seemed legit. He had his passport on the dash with other travel documents, nice guy blah blah blah. Caught me napping so now I have 3 watches that cost me $150.

Fullerton California 25 October 2014. Same exact story but probably a different guy.

He got hold of me yesterday in the parking lot of home depot in Fullerton California. He was by himself with the same story. I tried to help him with the directions and after awhile we talked about Italy as I used to live there with my ex-wife from Milano. SO, when he offered me a gift I thought it was genuine. Then he kept piling more and more items to give me. That was when it started to hit me. Then he asked for some money to buy gifts at the airport for his twin daughters birthday. Then I knew it was a some sort of a scam and manged to get out of it and leave.

Same story in black GMC SUV at Whole Foods Store in Unionville, ON. I guess he's graduated from Kmart. One guy short and swarthy with long hair and dressed in a fashionable way..like a designer. He said nothing. Other guy was about 5'8", grey hair and very pleasant. Had a passport and plane ticket. He was looking for directions to Toronto airport. Got me for $200 for 4 jackets. Essentially "gave me" 3 jackets but wanted 800 for the 4th. I now have 4 knockoff jackets which actually don't look too bad.

They're back! Two years later judging from these old posts. Found this string when I searched for EAS. Same thing happened to me just now. Got two jackets for $117. Same weird asking for directions thing, trying to light the jackets with a lighter. This guy was young, very handsome, well-dressed, New black lincoln town car, with a very broad italian accent. First time in New York. Only been here for 7 days. Flying back to Italy. Didn't want to pay customs fees. Couldn't find his way to JFK. Asked me to buy a play-station for his son for $370. Really pushed to get me to go to an ATM and pull out cash, which I was not going to do. Such an odd, odd scam. These were EAS brand. Had four "leather" jackets and a suit. Totally playing on people's greed. Giving as a thank you. Rolled the four jackets up in the garment bag for the suit. Handed them to me, so I'm holding them. They are now mine. I did this good deed of giving him directions and am rewarded with $6000 worth of merchandise. The whole thing is so ridiculous. But, now I have these two, stinky ill-fitting jackets. The one actually looks okay. The other I'm giving to a friend I'm meeting for dinner. I am such an easy mark. But, screw it. There you go. Life is weird. Next.

Lost going to the airport.
Thanks for helping.
Here's my card.
Let me give you a gift.
Passenger is mute as if a travel companion who doesn't speak English.
I'd like to buy my wife a gift at the airport. $800 dollars.
Sorry no money.
How about ATM?
My limit is $200.
How about $300?
No, $200 ATM limit.
Out $200 for 5 Armani knockoffs.
I'd probably feel better if I haggled with somebody in NYC for a $40 genuine fake Armani.
Location: Markham / Steeles / very close to ATMs.

End of story - hook, line, & s(t)inker to a $200 life lesson!!!

Funny thing: 3 years down the line: November 2014. I'm walking in my hometown near Amsterdam Airport (The Netherlands). An Italian guy in an expensive rental car asks me if I speak English and asks for directions for the airport. The guy's somewhere in his mid 20's. He then asks me to get in the car and shows me 3 bags full of Emporio Armani jackets. They all look legit and contain -apart from the Emporio labels- labels stating: "Sample". The first two bags he wants to give me as a present because he doesn't want to ship them back. For the 3rd bag he wants to have €200, to "buy some souvenirs" at the airport. Happily I'm a "smooth talker" myself and I don't want to take a €200 risk. I negotiate with him and end up taking 3 Emporio jackets for €80. Nice thing is that now, 2 days later, I have sold the jackets for a total of €450,-. A nice €370 profit... I wish I had taken his whole collection for €200 now. Bottom line: All's well that ends well...

Yeah, I'm an idiot. White SUV outside of Merrick Park shopping mall Coral Gables, Miami, Fl.). I was topping off someone's coolant in their car for them when he drove by, asking for directions to the airport after having completed a retail show and was headed back to Milan. Offered a bunch of watches so as not to pay taxes when he returned to Italy. 6 watches for $400 U.S. I don't know why I didn't have the presence of mind to google the brand BEFORE agreeing. Said his name was Franchesco, showed me his passport.

Gotta admit pretty elaborate scam. Too good to be true is the truth. These are using new collection 2014-2015 Armani Emporio

los angeles, olympic blvd. near la brea blvd., zip code 90036, 3 pm.

2 nicely dressed and friemndly guys in suv initially ask for directions to lax. i was on a residential street. they seem to have an itallian accent either because they are itallian or learned to fake the accent. mid 40's to 50, medium colored complexion - not dark, not light.

claimed they have left a trade show at staples, have extra inventory they don't want to pay duties on to ship items to italy. they offered a business card without my asking. tried to sell leather jackets and suits. very, very friendly.

luckily i declined as i felt it was either stolen or counterfit.

i wondered in this day and age who can't use their phone for directions since phone have been able to do this for about ten years!

I like this thread.

I mean, I have read about Nigerian scams (you know, the Prince with $108,000,000 in his account but needs to move it to Cyprus, and you will get your usual 10% cut just for lending him your bank account number, and perhaps sending him a small $10,000 bank fee), and I wonder who are the dumbasses that actually believe those scammers?

Then I read on this thread that there are idiots who actually buy things like "Italian" suits, "leather" coats, etc., from a guy in a truck in the parking lot, and then I realize that there really are a lot of dumb people out there.

Same scam in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Thursday November 13; I just came out of the bank. Small guy in his early thirties pulls up in an expensive Buick SUV rental who asked for directions to the airport. He claimed he was Italian and got lost. Being a nice guy, I gave him detailed directions. He was very thankful and gave me his business card; Gianluca Blandi, Event Organizer who works for Armani. He had left over samples from the show he just attended. Then he told me this story about taxes he would have to pay if he took his merchandise back to Italy.
Then he asked my size and guessed XL and proceeded to ask me to come look in his SUV. One by one he handed me 3 Italian leather jackets all wrapped in Armani bags and then had me hold open his Armani shopping bag as he placed them all in it. Then he asked how much an IPad Mini would cost in New York City when he gets there tonight, it was his daughter's birthday tomorrow and if I could I give him some cash; $300?? I told him I only had about 80 bucks on me... he kept on with 200, 150, I hesitated and he persisted. He kept reducing his price until he was down to 120. I then realized it was a scam; so I told him no, I didn't need an Armani leather jacket, placed them back in his SUV and walked off. He said "Ok" and jumped in his SUV and drove off.

So here we go again. It's Saturday Nov. 15, 2014 in Barrie, Ontario and if anyone had told me I could fall for this SCAM, I would have told them not in a hundred years.
But that was then and now is now.
My wife and I drive a fairly fancy F350 dually and I believe we were targeted and they followed us, since they got us in the parking lot of a Bibles for Missions THRIFT SHOP in Barrie's south end.
Upon pulling in, it took me a bit of effort to find a parking space since the shop was typically quite busy especially on a Saturday and as I got out of the truck with a bag of clothes in hand to donate to the shop, there they were. (I had let my wife off at the front door which if she had still been with me they would never have succeeded with their ruse.)
The older guy, a photo of his business card attached, told me he was lost and needed directions to get to the Toronto Airport. Now It sort of hit me as funny why was he asking for directions way up in Barrie to get to the airport down there but he told me he had been to Casino Rama but made his English so poor I couldn't tell whether or not he was saying he had lost a lot of money there. About that he was not clear.
I took about ten minutes giving him very specific directions about how to get to Hwy 400 south and then that he had to take Hwy 401 west and told him to expect a two to three hour drive. He showed me his passport and what he said were his flight confirmations and that he had seven hours until departure so there should be no problem.
Up until then everything was, as they say - hunky-dory.
But then quite out of the blue he said because I was so generous and patient giving him directions that he wanted to repay me with a gift. I absolutely objected saying it was not at all necessary but he insisted and out he slides from the SUV, which was again white, and into the back to start showing me leather jackets.
So here's the rub. Either these kinds of jackets are of interest to a body or they are not. Had he been showing be, let's say, skiing equipment for which I would have no use whatsoever the conversation would have ended there but nice, supposedly leather jackets, are pretty well a given that most people have at least some interest in them.
He threw out the big numbers. They were worth $3,000 Euros each, designer, exclusive, blah - blah and another blah for bad luck and what was my size and my wife's size and next thing I knew he had a pretty big canvas bag out and he was stuffing jackets into the bag. Of course he had me 'holding the bag' ha ha - while he filled it up.
I kept on protesting that it really was way too much but he insisted that I deserved to have them since I was such a nice guy and he'd be insulted if I didn't accept his generosity. Funny how far a little (phony) flattery will go to dulling one's senses to reality.
So the bag was full of four jackets. Three for me and one for my better three-quarters and in the truck went the bag. Then, so as to speak, possession of them was mine and I shook his hand and was all set to get into the thrift shop to make our charitable donation when I couldn't quite make out what he was going on about, about needing for me to help him out to get a birthday present for his father who was just turning eighty-three.
I have to say it all had seemed so amicable and generous on his part that it took longer than it should have to get it that he was actually asking ME for money.
Finally when I clued in I asked him, how much? How much do you need? Without batting an eye he told me $550. but $500. will do and it doesn't have to be in Euros, as if I would have any of those in my jeans. I was somewhat astounded as I advised him no way. We're both on pensions now and that amount is fully out of the question. He came down to $300. but still I had no interest in actually paying anything for them. The thing being both my wife and I really enjoy Thrift Shops and as any frequent visitor to these shops knows it's easy to end up with a lot more of things and stuff than you need. Like say 20 or 30 jackets each since they are too good a buy to pass up.
I'm not quite sure when it turned from friendly to a little bit onerous. I told him point blank I did not need the jackets since we both already had more than we could wear and I gave him the bag, which had been in the back seat of our truck, back and he took it but really got a bit testy as he went to put it back into his SUV. I still can't quite fathom why I said it but I told him I'd pay $100. for them. He said no way. That was an insult and that he thought I was a better person than that.
So there's the other of his hooks I fell for. Once he knew I was willing to pay something (anything) there was no way he was going to let me off with paying nothing.
The air had grown quite tense by then but I figured it was over and done with and as I got the bag back out of the truck we were going to donate to the thrift shop, there was the other guy who up until then has not said a word, blocking my way, That made me a little uncomfortable and then his buddy, he came at me again from his SUV with two jackets in hand. He told me I could have the two of them for $200. which I did not agree to. Funny how things happen. I happened to have two of the old style Canadian $100. bills in my jeans and I guess that was part of why things unfolded as they did. I knew I had the cash money. There's no way I would have gone to an ATM to get money for them but having the ready cash, $100. of it just seemed to slip out of my hand into his greasy paw. And that was that. They sort of swore at me a little and we were set to part ways when the other guy from the passenger's side, all of a sudden he could speak pretty good English and he began to show me a bunch of watches. What - they figured they were going to burn me twice - so fast?? I told him emphatically no and he told me that -- GOD WAS WATCHING ME!! What the hell did that have to do with anything? Duh? Then again I'm sure the Devil was watching them and smiling.
All in all it took almost twenty-five minutes for me to get ripped off for $100. for two very fake leather jackets which do have the odour problems that other people have attested to.
I wonder how many others, the first thing they've done after getting the feeling they have been duped headed to their PC to do the search that has ended me up here. I suppose quite a few.
Bottom line, while my own sense of getting more than I was paying for was a very big contributing factor, I can't say I didn't feel at least a little bit intimidated, even threatened when they started blocking my path.
Don't know that what they did was totally illegal since I did get something for the $100. I spent even if they now become donations to the self same thrift shop where this all happened in their parking lot.
Finally a first for me at seventy years young.
Can't say I haven't been scammed anymore.
No fool like an old fool?
Why do certain adages have to be so true?

Still I can't say I hate the guys since:
Hate is like drinking poison,
And hoping the other guy dies.

I wish you did a better impression so that it'll be funnier, Antonio. Unfortunately, scammers don't go about sounding like some Turkish carpet merchant you meet in the silk road crossroads to the east. Or it sounds like how someone who never have or been scammed doing an impression of what they think scamming is.

The most successful ones are smooth enough to fool the best of em and get away with it, even the smartest folks you know may have been scammed in such a manner once or twice in life.

A very similar incident happened to me and Yonge and York Mills Shell today. Guy in white jeep, Italian, shows me his passport, Alamo Rental Car, flying back to airport, pretending doesn't speak English, needs directions to 401. Hands me his business card, clearly its fake. At least yours has a correct IT web address. This "yahoo" Itlian businessman uses a yahoo.com address for Armani in Italy. Sure! Shows me 3 "Armani" jackets, $1900 each, take them for being so nice, then a suit $2300....then its I need help buying my son a birthday present for Italy tomorrow. When he said, "how much cash do you have on you I walked away" and wrote his plate down.

The first clue is when he hands you his business card nearly immediately. Its clearly fake with too many mistakes to list here. But clearly real Italian business cards don't have yahoo.com email addresses! I got one today and although different, like the 2-3 others I see here, all have the telltale signs, and the same address! It's guys like this that give Ginos a bad name!

Currently in Longmont, Colorado. So I was approached at the gas station on 9th and Main St in Longmont Colorado by an "italian" man about the age of 60 who needed directions to the airport. I diligently explained how to get there. He gives me his card and wants me to contact him If ever go to italy. He then asks if I like fashion and proceeds to try and sell me some samples he has leftover from a fashion show in loveland from the "armani" collection. He doesn't need the samples but will sell them to me at a good price because if he takes them back to Italy he has to pay a 35% tax . He doesn't mind paying taxes on them because he is paid well (he then shows me $10k in cash) but since I am helping him get to the airport he would give me a wonderful deal. I said I had an appointment and no time. He thanks me and drives off. He is in a brand new white Dodge Durango. I came back to the office and Googled his business card and got THIS FORUM.

This scam is now being pulled in San Francisco by a guy who calls himself "Maximiliano" - I got taken. Same thing, he's running to the airport with a rental car, doesn't want to pay tax on the jackets. Suggestion: if you see him, tell him you're going to the bank, call the police and have him arrested.

These scams are mild compared with what the local Gypsies are doing to landlords. They fake employment paperwork, fake their references, score leases, and then live rent-free while the eviction process plays out. And they trash the places they are "renting" while they're there.

When they con a landlord, it easily costs thousands of dollars in lost rent and damages. And they fool management companies as easily as independent landlords. If you wonder why upfront rental costs are so high these days, blame the fraudsters!

I saw the same guys in San Antonio Texas. I was washing my truck at a car warsh when he came up asking for directions to the airport, I pointed him in the right direction. He then told me he had to get rid of some watches and said I could have some for "free" if I buy one. He then went on to tell me they were worth 500 to a 1000 dollars. I could tell that they were fake right off the back. I seen real watches at the okley store and the bands have a sent to them, and the watch bands he had felt and smelt like something you would get in a happy meal. However i told him I didn't have much money, and I did see a few that looked nice for a fake watch. so I told him I would only pay 50 dollars for all of them. And after going back and forth for awhile he agreed.
Still someone needs to stop this guy he's ripping people off. To me the watches are only worth about tweny dollars.
This guy as we say in Texas is good at polishing s#### so beware

My husband was approached by this guy yesterday in the parking lot of an eating joint while we were going to be driving back home in Sunnyvale, CA. He is a fraud. He said he was an Italian and showed us his passport and said he had italian perfumes that his boss gave him but he couldn't take them with him to the airport. So he'd give them to us. My husband refused to see his perfumes and suggested him to check with others at the eating joint. Then we got in our car. For a moment I was scared. I wanted to get into our car and lock it and drive away as soon as possible.

Good riddance. But really watch out, people.

I was going back to my car after shopping at Costco when I was approached by a balding man in a rented Jeep Cherokee SUV speaking with an Italian accent. Seemed like a nice guy who presented well. Said he lost his wallet at the Casino. Just came from Moscone Center in San Francisco and had some brand new Giorgio Armani Collezione jackets. Couldn't take it on the plane because of customs tax. Needed to get rid of them. Each was worth over $1000US and would sell 6 for $400. Needed cash to fly back to Italy. Showed me the jackets said, "Made in Italy" with Giorgio Armani logos and tag that said, "Certificate of Authenticity" by Armani. Put a lighter to it and wouldn't burn (should have alerted me that it was fake). Gave me a business card with Giorgio Armani and his name was Esposito L. Manager. Stupid me, I believed him and bought the jackets. This all happened at the parking lot in the Costco store in Mountain View, California, home of Google, Facebook and just blocks from Stanford University. Out of feeling sorry for the guy because he was in a foreign country, lost, needing cash and my greed for a chance for a huge profit, I was scammed. Beware. Just happened 2 days ago. Today is Feb 20, 2015. Take a picture of the license place without him knowing that you did it and report to the Mountain View Police. They know about this and are looking out for this guy and others. Seems like a national problem all across the US. These guys need to be caught and prosecuted. I am sure Giorgio Armani would like like to get their hands on them having undermined their name for a scam.
