Redskins lineman Albert Haynesworth reached an out-of-court settlement Monday with a man he allegedly punched in a road rage incident in February, and a misdemeanor assault charge against Haynesworth in Fairfax County General District Court was then dismissed.

Neither Haynesworth, 29, nor his victim, identified by Haynesworth’s lawyer as Arthur J. Velasquez, 38, of Leesburg, would comment after the brief hearing or discuss the terms of the settlement. But Haynesworth’s lawyer did confirm the sequence of events that led to the Redskins player being charged and said that Velasquez suffered “a bloody nose.”

Under Virginia law, a misdemeanor assault charge may be dismissed if the victim appears in court and “acknowledges in writing that he has received satisfaction for the injury.” Lawyers refer to the resolution as an “accord and satisfaction,” which can include a financial payment, an agreement to stay away from each other or an apology.

He will be broke within 5 years. What an idiot.

I can't say I'm too surprised with this outcome. The "victim" got the money he wanted and Haynesworth gets the charges dropped.

Steve Merril is the man, but the DC sexual assault charge wont go away quite as easy.

He likes to speed. Doesn't mean he deserves a punch in the face. Haynesworth assaulted the guy. I'm assuming he didn't settle for a fortune. Haynesworth is lucky, because it could have been worse.

I told him for his bentley $325...long story short....he called me oneday, asked me to come to redskins park to Tint his car there (for what reason he couldn't come to my shop or have me do it at his parking garage... but whatever) So after talking to him like a retarded monkey, with his " Yun's and Tights ..oh realllll wuz up's.." we agreed $500 to put LIMO TINT ON and do it at REDSKIN park...so i went there and struggled to tint his Bentley in the wind and wide open dusty parking lot.... when i called him to tell him it was done....he said he'd catch me the next day in reston he was to tired/busy whatever.....days go bye...i call and call leave message after message.text after text....finally after 15 days...he sends me a text: [Hey TintGUY.I got pulled over, you didn't tell me it wasn't legal, so i need to get it taken off.....Thx]

Those guys change numbers all the time. If the last time this number was good was when he was out at Redskins park, chances are it's been changed.
