The Fairfax County Times newspapers are preparing to launch a new Web site in a few weeks, called FairfaxTimes.com, complete with a host of new interactive features.
we are looking for local folks to participate.

News by You
This feature is on every section front on the site. In it, “citjays,” our lingo for citizen journalists, publish their news. If you attend an event or know of something happening in the community, write about it. If you or a friend gets an award, write about it. You’ll need to register on the new site in September, but there’s no need for training. Our software will make it easy for you to join in.

Photos by You
Community photo galleries are the visual area for you to share your news. Did you make a spectacular tree fort for your kids? Did you happen across a house fire that you photographed? Did your pet do something funny? Share your photo and caption with readers of FairfaxTimes.com. You’ll need to register on the new site in September when we unveil the site to the public, but there’s no need for training. Our software will make it easy for you to join in.

Blogs
For the die-hard writers in the community, our blogs will give you a forum for your views – and the views of those who want to comment on your blog. As a local news site, we’d prefer to get blogs of local interest. Those wanting to blog for the site should apply by e-mailing a letter of interest and a writing sample to Web Editor Robin Earl, rearl@timespapers.com. While we’ll be accepting applicants on a rolling basis, please e-mail soon if you’d like to be part of our launch.

Although we'll be covering the entire county, the Fairfax site will will focus on individual communities, like Reston, Herndon, Vienna/Oakton, McLean/Great Falls, Centreville/Chantilly, Fairfax City/Annandale and Fairfax Station/Burke/Springfield.
Questions? Contact:Robin Earl, at (703) 798-7519 or rearl@timespapers.com

I don't think you know what you're getting into if you're coming in here asking us clowns to start acting like journalists. This will be funny, just like those WTOP forums, probably even worse.
