What's up with Gerry Connoly's check-in to Arlington Hospital?

It's day 3. Do the 11th district folks deserve to know?

edit by Cary: Added "[Gerry Connoly's check-in to Arlington Hospital]" to subject line for clarity.

No, not really. He is just a member of Congress, so why should the medical condition he is being treated for be any of your concern?

Don't worry about it.

Even if he croaks, Simian still lost the election, and a Democrat will replace Connolly....NOT Simian.

point taken. It's just the timing and the lack of any broad typification that causes my curiousity, and perhaps others.

I'm far short of a Gerry fan, but wish him no ill will.

Are you sure about that? I thought that it was the governor's prerogative to replace an elected member of Congress (or is that just for the Senate?). If so, then McDonnell would nominate Fimian, right?

The Constitution requires that member of the House be replaced only by an election held in the congressional district of the former representative.

"When vacancies happen in the Representation from any State, the Executive Authority thereof shall issue Writs of Election to fill such Vacancies." -- Article I, Section 2, Clause 4 of the U.S. Constitution

According to the US Constitution and state law, the governor of the state calls for a special election to replace the vacant House seat. The full election-cycle must be followed including political party nominating processes, primary elections and a general election, all held in the congressional district involved. The entire process often takes as long as from three to six months.

In other words, the whole circus will start over again if Connolly dies.

It's funny this topic came up again. I'd be willing to bet that Gerry Connolly, while getting a checkup from his doctor, his doctor obviously noted something. The doctor then obviously referred him to the hospital for additional testing. If I were a betting man, I'd put money down that it's his prostate (enlarged?, cancerous?). Seriously. He falls right into the age category where this can start to be a problem for most males.

As a Congressman, at least he does not have to worry about HIS health insurance coverage!

Diagnosing half man half pig patients is very difficult. Pigmen are notoriously difficult patients.

You people are positively ghoulish.

Connolly went home on Saturday and is at work today.

The term "work" used very loosely in the above.Translates to burying his head in the sand.

The entire sentance is an oxymoron.

You know, "you people" as in a condescending fashion. He's talking down to us. Just like Gerry Connolly does. He doesn't talk to people, he talks down to people. Us little Pee-ons in the world.

My real question is ... who found out that Gerry has a prostate issue? Was it truly his doctor during a check-up, or his gay lover?

And does he really have a prostate issue, or does he just enjoy the exam?

and not to be outdone, Stinkyfinger wrote:

I guess when you lose an election, some republicans resort back to being 7th graders with name-calling and homophobic jokes. Some Republicans can act like whiny little children and then back it up by behaving like this by posting such sophomoric banter. Grow up, its really sad. You are making real conservatives like myself look like petty children.

How do you expect people to take us seriously when you post that kind of stuff? Grow up, Jack-Wagon.

It's amazing how it is when people want to continue an argument, they resort to using alias names instead of their regular IDs here. Got it, Jack-Wagon?

Do not most congresspeople go to Bethesda for treatment? Does not Gerry live two miles from Fairfax Inova?

What is unique about Arlington that caused him to go there?

I suspect that probably his doctor is affiliated with the Arlington hospital and not Inova Fairfax hospital. Again, just a suspicion.
