I am really in the market for a gym membership. well...since I REALLY dont enjoy seeing your advertisements on a message board that discourages that, I will be joining Golds.

I was considering joining Gold's, but I'll try this offer and see.

Just a warning...the Gold's in Fairfax Station really screwed me over. I ended up paying about $500 more than I originally anticipated, and the customer service is horrible. I ended up having to talk to someone in Texas, and after being on hold for an hour, I was told there was nothing they could do.

Just a heads up...be careful with Gold's. Seems like they are in it more for the money than the fitness aspect.

Gold's blows. I had a hell of a time dealing with them when they had the place in Chantilly (is it even there anymore??). I finally just terminated my contract and paid the penalty.

Lifetime isn't bad. My two complaints are: 1. the $65 monthly dues and 2. The fact that when I joined, the sales chick told me that whatever the monthly dues were when I joined would stay the same, even if rates went up. A 'grandfathering" if you will. That's not the case, but whatever. Just don't go between 5:00 and 7:00pm. It's so friggin' crowded.

And be careful in the parking lot....there's so many foreigners behind the wheel and housewives with SUVs that are too much car for them to drive. It's almost as risky as the Metro.

Planet fitness is 24 hours I think, IMHO anything 24 hours is good. Don't join a gym not open 24 hours, because that's the only advantage they're ever going to have.
