On this day in 1965, the Southern African nation of Rhodesia Unilaterally Declared their Independence from the United Kingdom. Ian Smith's government joined the United States as the only two nations to do so on their own. Rhodesia eventually fell to the communists in 1980, and all the whites were slaughtered and pushed out of the country. Today Zimbabwe is a shell of its former self, led by the most corrupt government on earth. A nation that once had the highest standard of living on the continent, and was known as the bread basket of Africa, now has constant famine and relies on aid from the UN (most of which is embezzled). The few whites left in the country pray for the return of Rhodesia. Rhodesians never die! Happy UDI!
