My girlfriend and I went to Bob Evans for Sunday breakfast today. I had an egg platter with hash browns and toast and she had waffles with sausage. A couple of cups of coffee for each of us too.
What we ate wasn't the healthiest thing for breakfast but it wasn't obscene either. I should point out that neither of us are exercise nuts nor are we nutrition Nazis. We're both normal sized people.
What I saw as we headed to the register to pay our bill horrified me. We passed about six tables and every single one of them was filled with huge people eating piles of food. I saw people eating hollowed out 7" diameter biscuit filled with cheese and meat. I saw overweight people eating stacks of sausage, bacon and ham on the same plate. I saw lots of stuff covered in at least a half-pound of cheddar cheese.
Hey, I'm sure that stuff tastes great and if you actually walked instead of using a mobility scooter or did some yard work instead of watching TV, perhaps your body could handle the 3,500 calorie breakfast.
Seriously, health care costs are going to keep climbing for all of us if entire generations don't give a shit about their health and eat like that!

My company sent me to work in Germany for a six month assignment last year. I couldn't get over how much healthier they eat over there. Hardly any fat people and the food portions were half of what we get served here.

Really? you're surprised about this? there are obese people at any restaurant you go to, and bob evans is like their home base. it is necessary to have at least 3 obese people to be dining in order for bob's house to be open

I say we let the fatties die out. stop spending so much to take care of them. they are a plague to our economic well-being, and are rapidly eating all of our natural resources

The sort of restaurants like Bob Evans and Cracker Barrel always attract the same clientele; the fat, sloppy fucks who don't give a shit about themselves.

Yep, greasy food and high fructose corn syrup are alien to Europe.

"Yep, greasy food and high fructose corn syrup are alien to Europe." Is that true?
The big culprit, besides lack of self control, is the portions and of course the sugar laden soft drinks in the 32 ounce size. I stopped going with co workers to the chinese buffet, it was just too disgusting. People were eating as much and as fast as they could. Most were smelly and homeless people dressed better than this crowd.
I agree with eat healthy, our current health care system is no match for the obesity problems coming our way. Diabetes, heart problems, high blook pressure, etc.

I eat at Bob Evans once maybe twice a year. They do not even have small portions of anything on the menu, You better have a good appetite before going in there or be ready to throw some food away.
It is pretty good but I want to live a little longer so I try to control my visits to that place.

Weird. The last time I was at Bob Evans it was crowded with hip, beautiful, Hollywood model types, eating the trendiest of pan-asian cuisines prepared by internationally-renowned chefs.
The place must really be going down hill.

If you want to see a real fatass festival in operation go to the golden corral in Manassas sometime. You can eat very healthy there if you want to, they have fresh fruit, whole grain breads, cereal ect. Its a great place for business travelers or anyone who wants to eat healthy. They also have unlimited breakfest meats, hash browns, sausage gravy and even fried chicken for breakfast. I once saw a guy take all the bacon off the steam table in one trip to the food bar, it had to have been about three pounds of bacon.
The most depressing places are the country buffets that are full of senile old people.

I stopped going to Old Country Buffet when I witnessed an old man coming out of the bathroom with one of his hands covered with shit and asking for a roll of toilet paper.

Healthier? All they eat is pork, pork, and more pork. I can't even describe to you just how elated I was to finally make it to the Patton Hotel, where I had a nice steak for once!
Btw, I love the myth of "Fat Americans", when everywhere I've been I've seen fat people. It's such a BS tall-tale.

best buffet stories personally witnessed:
Old Country Buffet: Kid taste testing several items and putting the spoon back in the food after licking it
Golden Corral: 2 really fat chicks with their filthy children slopping so much food around that there was a ring of leftovers completely circling the table when they waddled out
Bob Evans: watching several obese whales waddle out and struggle to a nearby custard stand
Personally I dont care if they eat several cows a day, it pisses me off what they are doing to health care costs.

Well, according to the walking jellyroll known as Rush Limbaugh, the people that exercise regularly are the ones that drive up health care costs.

I fully support people being allowed to eat as much as they want. I just don't want to pay for it, and I can't see why I should. I'm not sure when "fat" became a protected class, but they'll be in the majority soon so I guess we'll all be working for them soon if we aren't already.

The bigger issue is why the F are people still eating at Bob Evans? I would think if fat people eat so damn much then they'd know the food sucks monkey balls at Bob Evans and the (should be retired) work staff there is slow and mostly suffers from amnesia or Alzheimer's disease.. don't tell me they are good because they are sooooo cheap... I could get more and better food from Anita's for much less... 5 breakfast burritos for under $7...
so.. please do all the fat people a favor and point them to a better place to get fat!

Answer to above, because it has enough parking for all the middle aged fat slobs that think that riding their Harleys in large groups every Saturday morning, eating at a grease pit and then stand around the bikes regurgitating, farting and thinking how cool they are.

Go to Disney world in Florida. very skinny Europeans and Brazilians and fat Americans. It is downright embarrassing.

I saw that at the Embassy Suites in Tysons once. Some slob at the breakfast buffet piled about 40 pieces of bacon on his plate. I couldn't help but glance over at his table, and sure enough, he ate all of it. Bacon is good, but eating that much is downright gross.
Another time I was at one of those crappy Pizza Hut buffets (that's embarrassing but it wasn't my choice). They brought out some kind of pasta dish on the buffet. A big tray of pasta covered with melted mozzarella. Some retard stood there and pulled all of the cheese off the pasta and dumped it onto his plate. I guess he didn't want all those carbs, and decided to ruin the whole tray for everyone by swiping the whole cheese layer.
Some people really have no class or manners when it comes to dining.

And that Oprah ain't helping none neither
Wow she's gotten so huge(bullshit it's her thyroid) that she probably having a hard time wiping these days. You think she's hired someone to wipe her?
Hell with all her money she could hire a round the clock team to stop her from overeating
And this is the thing that American women look up to?
Come on ladies what an effing phoney!
My family eats at Bob Evans, Old Country Buffet, and The Golden Corral (not all in one day, or even in one month). We are neither fat nor slobs. We also have consideration for others (i.e. we wouldn't take off an entire layer of cheese from the pasta).
While the fat people, old people with poop on their hands, and children licking the communal spoons are gross, the places themselves serve delicious food. Unfortunately, annoying people will never cease to exist so we're just going to have to put up with them (or not eat at the places that they go-- but then they'll win, won't they?). I will continue to eat there because I like the food, but I do acknowledge that the problems noted above do exist.

"another depressing fat hangout is cici;s pizza their cheap nasty all you can buffet is a favorite"
Anyone who eats at Cici's without at least one kid under the age of ten is truly a no-class slob.
Anyone who eats at a buffet is just asking for some nasty illness. I stopped using buffets years ago when I witnessed a guy at a Bob's Big Boy fingering all the fried chicken until he found the drumstick he wanted. And then there are the hidden camera videos of what people do at those bars when they think noone's paying attention. Gross.
