Funeral procession fucked up my commute on Rt123 today...Why?
Posted by: WTFOver? ()

What the fuck is up with the FCPD giving motorcycle escorts to funeral processions and backlogging traffic by a fucking mile? Who the fuck dies and still thinks their so god damn important that they can fuck up everyone's day by being a dick and driving slowly through major roads. How the fuck do I get a police escort when I die? I want to fuck up everyone's day too!

I, too, was once mildly inconvenienced for a few moments. Thank God that's over.

I've seen those funeral processions. First they are in the middle of the day, not rush hour. Second the most I have every had to wait is about 5 minutes because the line of cars(usually less then 50) is escorted non-stop very quickly past.

How long did you have to wait????

I'm not a biker but I might put in will to have the local biker club drive in my funeral procession.

At least two hours. It sucked. I was horribly put out of my way and late for several important and big meetings with international excecutives.

Still... How do I get a bunch of motor cops to fuck up traffic in my name, after I die?

And how come my taxes, as a ffx county resident, go towards the salaries of motorcycle cops pissing around with this pointless practice?

I believe all you have to do is ask for a police escort. There may be a small fee associated with. The only time roads are closed is if a police officer dies.

We should just fling the corpses of the dead over a fence or something.

FCPD only charges for funeral escorts on weekends.

OP: your funeral director arranges the escort.

They do it so the all the funeral cars get to the cemetary at the same time, instead of all separated by red lights, etc. I like to watch 'em, those motormen really whomp on those bikes to get to the next light and get traffic stopped before the procession catches up.

OP, you're an idiot. It has nothing to do wih vanity usually. It has to do with the mourners not getting lost or seperated while following the funeral procession. People used to run lights in order to stay with the procession, having the police stop traffic is a safety issue.

And I doubt that your commute was lengthen by two hours over this. I bet your commute was already over an hour and you were late today and decided to blame it all on the procession. Because, like so many around here, you're so much more important than anyone else.

Get over it already. Be glad it wasn't you or a loved one in that coffin and move on.

Whoa wait a minute here dipshit. Mourners not lost or sepArated while following? WTF? Bullshit! Here's the solution-conversation to that problem....

"Ok we're done here guys. Let's bury this wormfood in 20 minutes behind the bar at such-and-such address. We'll see you there!" Give ample time for commuting and that solves your "safety issue" People used to run red lights? Police stopping traffic a safety issue? WTF? They aren't special because someone they know died, that's malarky.

How much do the cops charge? Does it cover the salary and fuel of the officers on the procession?

It's all very selfish of the mourners. Fucking pricks.

In case you aren't being facetious, people often come long distances for funerals and don't necessarily know their way around. And no, not everyone has GPS. My uncle's funeral had no escort and we ran one light because we were afraid we'd lose them. Didn't know what else to do we had a bunch of other cars behind us following our lead.

Doesn't bother me because they always do these outside of any sort of rush hour. And if you play your cards right, and they're headed in your general direction, you can tag along and save some time.

In Virginia, it's legal to run a red light while in a funeral procession, even without an escort. Though I would probably look real carefully areound here before trying that.

In Florida, people willfully pull to the side in both directions to show respect when a funeral passes. Maybe because there are so many old folks and they know they might be next.

If you didn't have a phone, that means you were there for an early morning "fluff up" to relax them before their real meeting.

The police escorts are to make the traffic flow smoother - if they weren't there, there would still be a funeral procession, and it would be much more in your way, all the way.

I think it should be obvious - I am more important than you.

- When you die, fuck you! You should be buried in an unmarked grave at night so I don't have to be inconvenienced by your death. Your family and friends just need to deal with it.

- When I die, fuck you! The world stops so my rotting corpse can be planted in the ground without delay. In fact, every single one of you better be at my funeral. I'm going to have tear gas sprayed just to make sure you fuckers are all crying too.

In most States it's illegal to cut into a funeral procession so you still would of had to wait regardless of the police escort.

I agree with person who said some people could get lost. Just about all the funerals I've been to I had no clue how to get the cemetery and would of got lost if not following other cars.

(Well with exception of the funerals at Arlington cemetary with full honor guards bands and horse driven cassion. Difficult to get lost there.)

The OP is an idiot, as we DID NOT delay any one car for that length of time-We, 250+ Bikers were Burying our Friend Timmy Hall, who was killed when a 17 year old out driving past the state mandated curfew, pulled out in front of him. Yes, I know that FairFax Co police said he was speeding..too bad they didn't know that 1) He NEVER drove as fast as they reported and 2) he was still breaking in his new motor..which prevents ANY biker with knowledge from pushing your bike to those speeds. Funeral processions are a thing of the past, when horses were used to draw a hearse and the whole town turned out to watch it go by. Now you have cars and GPS to find the cemetary so no one needs a long drawn out show for somebody nobody knows except those in the procession.
They are too dangerous for this area. Too many intersections and too much traffic.

The dead deserve no respect for they are too weak to live.

Dying is easy. Life is hard. Respect the still-living and not the dead quitters.
