So spring is here and bike season is in full swing. I'm brand new to the area and I'm looking for some trails to start mountainbiking. Resources?

We wouldn't know. Most of us are socially-inept obese college dropouts who live in their parents basements.

I always used to see people mountain biking around Lake Accotink in Springfield. The lake trail also hooks up w/ the Fairfax Co. Connector trail and there are probably some off-shoots that might be interesting. Not really any mountains around here though.

The Chesapeake and Ohio Canal is good up in MD. You can start up in Carderock or Great Falls, MD. There is the Mount Vernon Trail that follows the Potomac. There is also the Washington and Old Dominion Trail. The Internet is a great resource.

Being a walker not biker don't care for them mountain bikes much. that sh8t about not tearing up trails is just that b8llsh8t. Might I suggest the billy goat trail at Great Falls Park, spectacular views of the river.

Google Earth? Nah, I'm just being a smart-ass, that wouldn't work.

Resources? Umm, Gee, why not go to Carder Rock or Great Falls and browse all the business cars stapled to the trail sign-in sheet.

business carDs. Seriously, trail masters and guides leave their business cards at most of the area's national parks.
