I was looking through the paper and I noticed they won a few state champs this year. I was curious so I went back and looked at the past years and Madison does exceptionally well on the state level in a variety of sports. Why is this? The school isn't too big and I don't know what other factors contribute to their success.

Youth leagues...and also interesting is the girls sports are as competitive as the boys...

Madison is mostly populated by rich kids, whose parents can afford to pay to put them in travel leagues and have private coaching as kids. This leads to the average Madison kid being lightyears better than most high schoolers by the time they get to HS

Your def of a “few” is bit of a stretch. How many state football titles, basketball, baseball? If you really want to see excellence look no further than the Westfield Bulldogs.

Westfield -- not so much in some sports...

Let's see the Warhawks Girls Swim & Dive (3rd year in a row) and Boys Lacrosse are state champions. Played the state championship for Girls Lacrosse and Boys Soccer. Regional Champion Girls basketball. Regional 2nd place the past two years in gymnastics. ...and yes, two of the last three years losing in the football regional final against the vaunted Bulldogs. Two recent back-to-back championships in softball.

Madison athletics are very good across the board not just boys big name sports of football, basketball, baseball..and yes time and travel leagues do help as does a strong youth program in Vienna.

You’re not even good in the big 3 sports, football b-ball baseball. Your girls are better than the boys.
Westfield is way more dominant than MHS. Btw, Bulldogs in state finals for baseball bitches!
