A tunnel that dumps traffic back out on the same two roads that are traffic nightmares. The Reston Parkway and Fairfax County parkway.

The underpass, which is listed as a top priority in Reston’s transportation funding plan, would extend Town Center Parkway from Sunrise Valley Drive west of Edmund Haley Drive under the Dulles Toll Road to Sunset Hill Road.

So far, the project is expected to cost roughly $170 million.

The Reston Town Center has become the biggest traffic nightmare since Tyson's corner. The board should of never left the developers build some many high res buildings and office in one dense area.

The only way to solve the traffic nightmare is to add more lanes to the Reston Parkway and extend it through Great Falls.

People who say "should of" instead of "should have" are too fucking stupid to pay any actual attention to.

there’s been talk over the past few years about maybe getting rid of that section of the toll road and dedicating it to smart growth uses with more park space, etc.

Technically this is not a tunnel and the 170+ million not including cost increased throughout the projects life cycle grease the palms of not just our county supervisors but also fill the coffers of political campaigns. Our tax dollars at work my friend.

Agree, why not just say a $170 Million study to see if rockets can be used to move commuters.

The only way to fix this nightmare is to knock down some of the buildings at the RTC.

There's only one way to solve the Reston traffic night and that's widen and build roads. Any other suggestions are a waste of time.

The developers creating the traffic jams need to be held accountable and need to pay for road improvements such as adding a new lane to the Reston Parkway and Fairfax county parkway.

An underpass and a tunnel are not the same thing.

Just to note that the original Bridge to Nowhere actually went to ----- the airport!
