parking ticket
Posted by: slinkeyts ()

I got a parking ticket for "blocking or within 10 feet of public or private driveway"
and the ticket amount is $40.

But the thing is i think was more than 10 feet from this persons driveway, and people that parked by me agree.

and plus there was a lot more cars on the same road as me, doing the same thing, and they didn't get tickets

should it take this ticket to court?

will it be worth it?

If 3-4 hours of your time worth less than $40 * .01% (= yr chances) - yeah, sure, go and fight the evil.

What the hell is it with the people on this site? Can any of you go a day without contact with the police?

The other people probably didn't get a ticket because the police weren't called about them. For the police to ticket a car for this violation the resident of the property whose driveway you were parking too close to had to call and report it. The police won't ticket for this violation without it.

That is pretty funny, I've lived here 11 years and I've never even spoken to a cop.

Maybe your lazy ass should park further away. I think it's extreamely rude for people to park directly in front of someone else's house unless there is a party or something going on that requires you to. Shame on you. Pay the $40 and apologize to the old lady who couldnt see around your pos to safely leave her driveway.

Well then you too are lazy. I hope they tow you away. Maybe you don't deserve to drive to school if you don't participate in enough extracurricular activities to score you a parking pass. Stoner.

What does the ticket say you have to do to contest it? I have no idea if you are guilty or not but I have seen the ticket writers hit meters to make the violation flag come up. I have seen them write stuff that was not in violation. They have a quota and maybe since it is the end of the month they dinged you even though you were 11 feet from the driveway.
I dont think they care if you appeal the ticket or not esp since it is a judgement call on the distance and not a sign violation. They get paid either way.

NEVER buy a house within walking distance of a high school! I found that out too late. These high school punks will BLOCK your driveway...never mind parking too close to it! They will also dump copious amounts of trash on your property....and you can't even thrash them because they're kiddies.

But there is a solution....the residential parking permit program. NO PARKING ON SCHOOL DAYS 7:00am-3:00pm signs are posted and if one these pampered punk assholes decides to park anyway...a quick call to the po-po and bang, they have to ask mommy for 40 bucks...workslike a charm!

Downside: In the beginning, I would forget and friends and family got ticketed for parking in front of my house during school hours....but they are fairly easy to get voided.

Well, the folks on that road should get 'em too! It only took a few months of messing with the County to get ours....initially they said we were too far from the school, but when we proved we weren't farther than the punks would walk....voila, we got signs. Freaking taxes are way too high around here to put up with that shit.

I wish I knew the road you're talking about...I'd take a ride over and offer those folks some of my "expertise".

It is a waste of your time to fight it.
Your neighbor called to complain that you parked too close and that is why YOU got a parking ticket.
The officer probably paced it off and felt it was close enough. They are not issued tape measures.
