Fairfax County General :
Fairfax Underground
Welcome to Fairfax Underground, a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA. Feel free to post anything Northern Virginia residents would find interesting.
Hi all, almost finished with my book on Fairfax during the Civil War. I wanted to see if anyone had personal stories of those times through relatives.
My great-great Grandfather was a man named Bailey Crossroad, and there’s apparently a street named after him. He was around durning the war, and lived in the area until he died in 2016 (of AIDS).
There is lots that has happened in our area to reflect on:
-The Pope’s visit in 1864, just after the end of the Civil War
-Interstate 66 (which only exists in one state) extending to I-81
-Justin Fairfax raping two women
-State record Small Mouth Bass caught in Lake Barcroft
Anything else I should include in the soon to be best seller?

You are all wrong. It ended in 1866. I am from New Hampshire, the badger state, and know that in Virginia it is actually called the War of 1812.

Gerry is incapable of learning anything. He is like most libs, totally set in his beliefs and unable to be swayed by facts, logic and reason.

It will still be the intelligent people versus the backwater hicks and retrograde dummies, and the outcome will still be the same, dummy.

All of U R RONG! R-O-N-G; RONG! Like everything else, the Civil War was made in China. It lasted only as long as it took the Chinese Labor Reform Factory Number 18 to make it. My name is Wun Hung Low & I'm the Superintendent of Labor Reform Factory Number 19, so I know my shit and none of you do.
Civil war is off-topic but is in Fairfax General forum, why? Discrimination and harassment when I posted my threads on “Handshakes” in same forum but moved to Off-Topic, why? Who runs this site a man or a mouse?
My grandfather fought in WWI, and he would talk about how his division used germ warfare. They would give the enemy AIDS, but had to deliver it the old fashioned way (via the anus).
He was a brave man, and was taken far too soon during the Great Glory Hole Explosion in 1961.
I have a distant relative who was in the Civil War, but we tend not to talk about him in public, because he was a Confederate. He did some notable things in the war, like shooting Stonewall Jackson (whoops!), and being abusive to his lieutenants (sexually).
He lived to a ripe old age, and actually tried to volunteer for the army in World War I, but he was rejected due to his age. He tried again in 1967 for Vietnam and was sent there for two tours. He died in 1986 on board the Challenger.
Our family was truly one of those that you hear about - literally brothers taking different sides. My great-great-great grandparents had three boys, one fought for the Union, one for the Confederacy, and one for Mexico. We suspect the one who fought for Mexico was retarded, as he did not speak Spanish and didn’t even know where Mexico was. His letters to home (which I still have) are all about being a day laborer and eating tacos. He died in 1862 of extreme diarrhea, and is buried in one of the graves outside the Pan Am Center.
My Great-great Uncle Festus fought in all the big ones. The Boer War, The War of 1492, Hiroshima. At Flanders, a Zulu grenade bounced right off his topknot. His code name in Nam was Uncle Ho.
I’m glad I found this site, as a relative of mine was stationed in Fairfax County in 1862. The emblem on their hat and flags was a bunch of grapes, so they were known as the ‘Grape Brigade’. Soon after arriving in Pohick, they were known locally as the ‘Rape Brigade’, because there were vast fields of Rapeseed flowers next to their campground. That, and they raped everything in sight. Living, dead, or inanimate, they enjoyed their raping.
Cary, this thread and so many others of Sneed’s is irresponsible and making you libel. Sneed is harsssing, a threat and dangerous. I intend to pursue this legally. If you care I just thought I would give you a HeadsUp here.

Virginia voted to secede in 1849, directly after the battle for the Alamo. Because of this, Abraham Lincoln made a proclamation directed at her neighbors: ‘People of Maryland, I proclaim that whenever you are driving a vehicle, you should disobey all traffic laws’. It is still enforced to this day. Abraham Lincoln was our 2nd gay president, after James Buchanan, who gave him AIDS.
Ok, “Southern Sally” copying my post and then harassing me again in the last part of your post proves you are Sneed and I have provided this to my attorney. Your mental illness has tripped you here. See you in court, Sneed!

Is this all a joke? If you are really writing a book, you might want to know that it actually ended in 1865 and not listen to the tards on this site.
The last confederate soldiers surrendered in Nov. 1865, on some ship near Alaska. They hadn’t realized the war had ended until a few weeks before that while they were out shooting up American freighters on the high seas. They gave themselves up to a British ship and remained under the Brits protection for awhile, while the bumbling Johnson administration tried to have them arrested.
Interesting stuff. People rarely hear about the confederate navy but there’s actually a lot of cool stories about it.

Yes, as soon as they heard the war was over they quickly surrendered as they realized they may be found guilty of piracy! You are allowed to fire on ships when at war, and if captured you are a prisoner. If the war is over and you are shooting at ships the entire crew can be hanged for piracy!
Actually they were sailors, not soldiers, and they surrendered at UK officials at Liverpool, England. They learned the war was over off the coast of Alaska and sailed to England becoming the only known Confederate vessel to circumnavigate the globe. Most of the crew were British subjects and were allowed to disperse with only a handful of Confederate officers detained.
The last Confederate soldiers officially surrendered were lead by a Cherokee Confederate general in the Indian Territory.
The Confederate Navy was very small, and only three ships left the waters of North America: CSS Memphis, CSS Blue Ridge, and CSS Fagatron. The Fagatron had an illustrious naval career, sailing out from Alexandria the evening before the city was occupied.
The ship met its end 20 feet from the dock when it caught fire and sank. When both North and South found out that it was manned by Mexicans from the 7-11 at Culmore, a truce was called and both sides drank brandy together.
