Yup, but 86 on the Crab Louie app. Had to make do with the Chophouse Salad, and then the Pasta Primavera with added shrimp. Very good as always. The wife did the shrimp and crab fritters, then the short smoked salmon done rare. That’s one of her favorites. Got a box of mixed berry shortcake to take home as well. So decadent. All in all, a nice way to paper over a disappointing Nats loss.

So, done with nails now and off to find some food.

Well, a nice wedge salad and a crispy brown Reuben sandwich have now hit the spot. Very tasty. Brought home a nice big pepperoni pizza as well, so we should be in good shape here for a couple of days.

Head grounds-keeper was here when we got home from lunch, so while the crew went through their mowing and blowing routines, we worked out a plan to deadwood three major trees and de-weed the large GRAVEL driveway. Should come to about three grand.

Well, quite the successful day today, setting up a nice, long, quiet, and restful holiday weekend. With the Nats out of town for a week, we should have some delightful quiet time just to sit back and enjoy the manicured beauty of our professionally maintained, much larger than average property. Rain or shine, it’s just so fine.

Well, no need to say it really, but here we have yet another simply beautiful morning out here in the fabulous Sweet Spot. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and all seems right in this little part of the world at least. It was 61 degrees when I got up headed for highs in the mid 70s. And while clouds are expected to develop later on, they haven’t arrived yet, so all we have is clear blue skies. The humidity is just 44% and NE winds are at 6 mph, so we’re pretty much checking all the boxes here so far today. Those poor folks down in TFNF are finally through this latest round of thunderstorms and should be seeing nicer days ahead for a while. It still is Florida though, so no real reason to rejoice.

Real President Joe now says a debt ceiling deal seems near, but on the ground, it is no nearer or further away than it has ever been. The whole show after all is just theater, nonsense childish temper tantrums being thrown by sicko elements of the GOP. Which means most of them of course, but cuckoo K-Mac long ago sold out to the worst of the bunch, so this is what we get. Just more reason for the rest of the world to laugh at us. This is the modern Republican Party, and it’s only getting worse.

In other news, the Nats seem to be slowly getting better. They opened a six-game road trip in Kansas City (the one in Missouri) last night, and while the bullpen tried to betray him, Patrick Corbin was able to lay down the foundation for what would become a 12-10 win over the Royals. Luis Garcia (just turned 23) became the second Nat (Rendon) ever to go 6-for-6, and the first ever to have two doubles in the same inning. We’ll try to keep the ball rolling this afternoon when Josiah Gray takes on a struggling this year RHP in Brady Singer (26).

Struggling every year of course is the worn out arm of has-been Falls Church City. Traders in the likes of snake oil and nonexistent RAMW data, the faltering fictioneers are just the latest examples of a city mostly gone right off the rails. The City Council did recently take one firm step in declaring June to be Pride Month in FCC. It’s good after all to throw things in the face of moralizing phonies and frauds who would rather demean others than educate themselves.

In other news, worrisome command issues again held Jojo Gray to a shorter than hoped for outing, this time a struggling four-inning stint against the Royals. Fortunately, the bullpen was nearly perfect for five frames, and the offense was able to peck its way to a four-spot in the 6th, and we took Game-2 by a score of 4-2. We’ll go for three straight in KC today behind inconsistent Mackenzie Gore against tall lefty Daniel Lynch (26), making his first start of the year. He wasn’t much in 2021 or 2022, but he’s back now to give it another go. So is Nats legendary lefty Sean Doolittle (nearing 37), who successfully completed his first rehab inning at Low-A last night. He’s got a long way to go yet in recovery from elbow issues, but he and his wife are such delightful people that you always hold out hope for an eventual return.

No such hope can be held of course for fractured Falls Church City, where damage has been done beyond what any mere surgeon could hope to repair. Still, citizens will look forward to Monday’s Memorial Day Parade, at which the Grand Marshal will be Rebecca Tax (owner with her brother) of Clare and Don’s Beach Shack, which (RAMW data would surely show) sits at the top end of FCC’s dismal local dining scene. Well, with medical appointments, pedicures, so many Nats games, and lots of dining out, we’re really pretty busy most days. Having groceries delivered ends up being a big time saver. Really good stuff too.
