Well, the little people are capable only of very little things. One of them is lying, and another is running away. These however are not behaviors seen at all among those residing in the upscale (yes, upscale) environs of the Sweet Spot. Instead they are a characteristic of such dishonest and low-performing dopes and dweebs as are so frequently found wandering dazed, confused, and alone along the sorry streets of just as sorry Falls Church City. Not a fit place for man nor beast, that. In contrast of course stands the Sweet Spot where even on an off-morning, it might be a bit cloudy but still 58 degrees and on the way to the mid 70s. Humidity is falling as the temps are rising, so with the kiss of some single-digit NE breezes, we out here should be off on another perfectly fine day. Sunny and 71 in TFNF right now, so they should at last have a nice day to enjoy as well. At least if one can believe these real-time NWS data feeds that have such a reputation for accuracy.
Real President Joe meanwhile welcomes the collapse of an always foolhardy GOP attempt to hold the country hostage to a debt limit that should not exist in the first place. Having had now their moments of stern bloviation, the dolts can only slink and scurry away again, having accomplished virtually nothing at all.
In other news, worrisome command issues again held Jojo Gray to a shorter than hoped for outing, this time a struggling four-inning stint against the Royals. Fortunately, the bullpen was nearly perfect for five frames, and the offense was able to peck its way to a four-spot in the 6th, and we took Game-2 by a score of 4-2. We’ll go for three straight in KC today behind inconsistent Mackenzie Gore against tall lefty Daniel Lynch (26), making his first start of the year. He wasn’t much in 2021 or 2022, but he’s back now to give it another go. So is Nats legendary lefty Sean Doolittle (nearing 37), who successfully completed his first rehab inning at Low-A last night. He’s got a long way to go yet in recovery from elbow issues, but he and his wife are such delightful people that you always hold out hope for an eventual return.
No such hope can be held of course for fractured Falls Church City, where damage has been done beyond what any mere surgeon could hope to repair. Still, citizens will look forward to Monday’s Memorial Day Parade, at which the Grand Marshal will be Rebecca Tax (owner with her brother) of Clare and Don’s Beach Shack, which (RAMW data would surely show) sits at the top end of FCC’s dismal local dining scene. If only they had a GAR place to call their own,
