Oh, I'm ever so comfortable out here in my just reassessed at $1.5 million country home. Even that 8% increase won't make a dent in things. But I do indeed shop at Dollar Tree on a semi-regular basis because they carry things I like for less than what I would have to pay elsewhere. That's just being smart -- another area where you fare comparatively poorly.

I go to Dollar Tree from time to time in Chantilly, but not every week as not carry everything, though what carry in food including frozen is more than expect, but to get nearly everything need to go to another store. Some things are a great value for a dollar, even name brands sometimes. But for some items, for a dollar, you get a smaller product. I do not buy any electronics in there, other than perhaps like AA, AAA batteries, as for that cheap, could be safety risk as cheaply manufactured. They do take all major credit and debit cards as well as cash; and believe they also take manufacturer coupons (not tried yet) but sometimes hard to find the name brands to match. Its not as bad as Aldi, which you must bag yourself after check out and pay a quarter you get back after return the cart, whereas Dollar Tree clerks bag for you and getting carts is like any other normal store.

Pill containers? Are you a drug dealer or something? I have never in my life had a need to go out and purchase a pill container. As a matter of fact, I am not sure I even know what a pill container is. Every pill I get comes in its own container. It's not like I go to the pharmacy to pick up my prescription and they ask me to hold out my hand and pour 30 pills into it and send me on my way.

Pill containers are the cases where you can organize a week's worth of pills. Saves opening several different bottles a day and also helps you remember to take them.

By years end, it'll surely be more. Then again, I don't have to save up for a year to go there. I just go when I want. Again, trips to FL are fairly routine in my world. I guess I need to explain that the trip (like the many before it) is associated with SPRING TRAINING which happens just this once a year. It's about as close to a yacht as you'll get. Then again, it appears you had to borrow against your home equity to take the trip, so it's no surprise. Pretty sad.

Well, liquidating high-earning assets would certainly be a poor plan, so it's good old garden-variety s/t credit that comes into play instead. I suppose there may be some out there who won't be able to fathom the sense in that. They'd be dopes, though.

There are times for HELOCs. Home improvement (those are actually still tax deductible), higher education, starting a business or something else that invests in your future. Taking a HELOC for a garden variety trip to FL is just plain dumb. Just put it on the card, take whatever points the credit company is giving you (cash back, air miles, lodging points, etc.) and pay it off at the end of the month.

The smarter people have a card linked to a credit line. Makes everything easy-peasy. From simple grocery shopping to expensive trips and the most elegant fine dining. It all goes down the same conveyor belt to be settled at once whenever one chooses to do so. Interest now has to be prorated, just as in the days of the AMT.

I guess you do what you have to do when you don't have enough income to cover things.
