Well, another beautiful day to celebrate enduring success out here in the exalted and upscale Sweet Spot, and another day to lament the ongoing sorry-ass low-grade failures of the struggling, debased, undereducated, and financially downscale areas off to the unfortunate east. Great to be us. Sucks to be them. In any case, it was 37 degrees when I awoke this morning (26 at the nearest airport) with sun shining through a few patchy clouds. Light winds from the NW, average humidity, and next to no chance of rain. I’m working on another batch of Santini’s leftovers for breakfast this morning with an eggplant parm up next. Some people just don’t care for eggplant, but I like it lots of ways.
Real President Joe meanwhile scoffs at the continuing comedy of the House GOP, as they pass with much phony fanfare the first bill of their majority, essentially a one-pager proposing to rescind unspent funding for the IRS that was included in the Inflartion Protection Act. The GOP bill would have increased deficits by $114B over ten years according to CBO, but never fear, the Senate will never touch it. It’s dead.
In other news, reports are that the Nats have signed OF Corey Divkerson (33) to a one-year deal that with bonuses would top out at $3M. His prime-time days are done at this point, but he could still be valuable as depth and an eventual trade chit.
There is little of course that could actually help the situation of foundering Falls Church City, as they and their much over-hyped ground leases now face years of serious fiscal difficulty. It’s been a long time since it was a good time to live in the Little City, and it seems that time will only be getting longer still.
