Well, we're seeing things make one final move toward the balmy side out here in the Sweet Spot that so reasonably frazzles some people into fits of jealousy. Probably the last of its kind for a while, but it was already 48 degrees outside when I arose this morning and we should be spending the bulk of the day in the low to mid 50's. Not too shabby. We'll have some showers to deal with off and on, but for the most part, it should be a pleasant day. In other news, the Nats were able to polish off the Cards by a score of 9-6 yesterday with Juan Soto mashing his first HR of the Spring. Eric Thames put a couple of good swings on the ball as well. The boys will be back on the air against the Yankees on the MLB Network at 4:00 this afternoon, Live like a wealthy retiree today and Stay home from work to watch. Today's 1:00 game by the way features the Braves and Orioles from Birdland South, so a chance to check that out as well.

Meanwhile, ex-Nat Trevor Rosenthal is dealing with some calf soreness and will be sidelined for a bit. Well, the very latest data are in, and they confirm that we do indeed have a ton of more than welcome sunshine pouring down out there this morning, this after a somewhat noisy and blustery overnight chased away all the nice warm stuff. We are left then sitting at 36 degrees out here in the superb Sweet Spot just now, something that would not be so bad were it not for these dratted 20 mph winds. We're not expecting to spend much if any time today in even the low 40's, with the cold stretching out all the way into the coming weekend. It does look like we'll be soaring into the mid-60's early next week, but that of course is apt to bring more rain our way. Kind of a mixed bag of weather coming up, I guess.

The postman didn't ring at all yesterday, but he did bring updated 2020 real estate tax info by. We still round to $1.5 million after a 3.3% increase in our assessment, while the average residential increase in the County was 2.65%. That stands in sharp contrast to the 3.89% average increase that FCC residents are being hit with. Another case of more for less over there.

In other news, aside from an early HR by Raudy Reed, the Nats didn't fare very well against NYY yesterday. They'll get another shot at it back home against the Cheaters at 6:00 this evening. Be there or be square.

Hoping one day to be as hip as square of course are these bands of bats-in-the-belfry bumblers from ever failing Falls Church City. Well, we sort of struggled overnight to get back to all of 30 degrees by sunrise out here in the fabulous Sweet Spot, and we're not going to get much further than the mid-40's today in any case. There are some significant breezes out there as well, so even though it's not going to rain today, it's not really going to be a wonderful time to be outside. Good thing we can brew up one fresh cup after another of good old single-estate Kona and sit indoors to enjoy the beautiful views out the banks of windows. Those views don't compare yet of course to what they will be once the green wave arrives, but between them, Mother Nature and the yard crew will have the place back in tip-top shape in just a few weeks time. Did catch a quick fox sighting earlier. It was just a leap over the fence at the tail end of a trip across the property, but still nice to see.

In other news, Aaron Barrett might still be a good story, but at this point, he still isn't back to being much of a good pitcher. Came on in the 8th yesterday hoping to protect a 5-2 lead, but promptly created a 5-5 tie out of that to put a damper on what had been a terrific game by Adam Eaton. Max Scherzer started for the good guys but was almost as ragged as his defense early on, as two runs came across for HOU in the opening inning. It was only Astros regular players who were being lustily booed each time they were announced in this one. The minor league types were pretty much left alone.

Meanwhile, ex-Nat Matt Adams is being sent by the Mets for a round of precautionary cardiac exams. They did the same thing a few days ago with OF Brandon Nimmo, and he's now back and cleared to play. Hopefully, the same will happen soon with Big City. Otherwise, there was news of two former Nats lefties out of White Sox camp. Gio Gonzalez was able to toss a bullpen session despite some recent shoulder soreness, while Ross Detwiler was able to toss two scoreless innings against SEA. Good for the two of them.

Not able to toss as much as a beanbag of course are these entirely confused and out-of-balance imbeciles escaped from some sort of mental ward in Falls Church City. Utterly baffled and bamboozled by various aspects of reality that the rest of us simply take for granted, these clods and clowns just babble on and on in their hopeless, baseless, and pointless laments.
