Spent 3 years in Germany and fell in love with the apfel strudel especially. Haven't found anyplace that really serves it in Fairfax. Anyone know a good place?

The Bavarian Inn in Shepardstown has great food, it's close enough it can be done in one evening

Since it’s not in Fairfax either, try the Heidelberg Bakery in Arlington. Right side of eastbound Lee Highwsy just across the street from KFC.

OK, if we have to be limited to FFX County, the only place I know is . . . Costco. They on;y carry it sporadically, but when they have it, it's very good.

GG is great for deli and grocery items, plus wine and beer. Not the greatest on bakery items.

True. They're also not in FFX County.

Falls Church, Fairfax County same shit to me, but you're right. Don't Asians run that place(GG)?

Taking its name from The Falls Church, an 18th-century Church of England (later Episcopal Church) parish, Falls Church gained township status within Fairfax County in 1875. In 1948, it was incorporated as the City of Falls Church, an independent city with county-level governance status although it is not a county.[5]

Lee Highway is a north-south highway. As such, there is no eastbound portion.

Bullshit. Heidelberg Bakery is directly to the south of Lee Highway, and Lee Highway runs DIRECTLY due east from North George Mason Drive to North Culpepper Street in the area of Heidelberg Bakery. Being to the south of Lee Highway (and it is), that means proceeding to the east (and that is EXACTLY what the fuck you would be doing) on Lee Highway, Heidelberg bakery would be (and is) to your right.

Seconded. I used to work there, I know the skinny. Nice Swiss-German guy runs the place, 3rd generation baker. German Gourmet gets their strudel/cakes from Swiss Bakery, but its a day old upon delivery and the bakers will often send them the ones that they mess up. Plus the guy who runs it is kind of a weird dick.
