What is the reason for the increased number of dark vehicles on the road at night? What a hazard!

When I was stationed in Korea (granted that was a while ago), the Koreans would drive around at night with their headlights off because they thought it was rude and disrespectful to shine their headlights in the eyes of other drivers. Made things kinda interesting.

My Infiniti QX30 (really a Mercedes) turns them on when it gets dark no matter what. There is no override.

Too many people don't know how their car works. Some run around with day time running lights - not realizing or caring that their rear tail lights do not work with DRL. I suspect some cars have the dash lights come on even though the headlights are not operating.
People - learn how your car works -- have someone verify what happens with your lights at night.
Auto manufacturers - don't have dash lights come on with out the lights in operational mode.

Most drunk drivers fail to turn on their lights. It's actually almost a guaranteed DUI stat for us. If we see a vehicle without its headlights turned on between the hours of 11pm and 4am it's almost always a DUI. If you're not impaired you'll find out pretty quick that the road seems a bit darker than usual.

Yep. It's really amazing to me that DOT didn't require that dash lights be off when it's dark and headlights aren't on. Of course there are folks who are so dense that even that wouldn't help, but it'd be something.

Because this is a trend now and in my opinion the most beautiful color for a car is black. Any car, any model, even if it is a hyundai Sonata from 2005, if it is black it looks good. I have three cars in my garage (Cadillac Escalade, Cadillac ct6 and a Ford Bronco) and all this cars are black. This is my favorite color and I consider it the most beautiful one. I installed on my my Bronco 4x4 LED Work Lights because I need to be visible during the night and that's why I decided to install some additional light.

If you followed your local elected officials that represent you in Richmond. You would have seen that you can drive with no lights on know. Yes, they passed a law that states you cannot get pulled over for that. There were many other stupid things passed in this special session. Something else, this past winter they passed a law that stated it was lawful to smoke in a car with a child in it with you. Last week police cannot pull you over if you are smoking in a car with a child in the car. Why were these and many other laws passed???? Because it is racists to pull someone over for these violations.
