The BOS has been approached by several foreign companies seeking to make the entire Fairfax County Parkway a limited access toll road with 4 lanes in each direction. The BOS is strongly considering two of these proposals. The foreign companies would pay for widening and other construction of the parkway and would keep 85% of the tolls collected. Taxpayer funds would only be used to acquire property along the right of way.

Horrible idea. It push all the FFX county parkway traffic onto nearby roads. Nobody is going to pay $4 everytime they use the Fairfax County Parkway.

Who tell tolls a road that runs through residential neighborhoods? What, they are going to split Franklin Farm in half?

The legal agreements that allowed the Fairfax County Parkway to even be completed preclude this from happening forever. It was supposed to be an outer Beltway and was partially built that way through parts of Herndon and Reston before it was cancelled. The piecemeal bullshit "highway" we have now is required to have traffic lights and can only have high-speed interchanges in very specific cases.

I wouldn't put it past the FFX county board to turn it into a toll road. From what I've seen there is more a concern about dollars in the boards pockets than solving issues.

It will absolutely happen. Any time the BOS can effectively squeeze more taxes from residents, they will do it.

The more money they don't have to spend on the parkway, the more money they can spend on the illegals - which is really the only priority in Fairfax.
