Does anyone know what happed around 7am this morning on Baron Cameron Ave and Elden St in Herndon/Reston area? Driving by, I saw the road blocked and 2 helicopters hovering above. I got a look and saw a green station wagon with a smashed windsheild. Imbedded in the windsheild was a black winter hat( Beanie, Toboggan) Someone had gone thru or at least into the windsheild. There were clothes spread all out all over the road. I had heard that a Pedesrian was struck. If anyone knows please post.

Fairfax County Police Department -- Pedestrian Fatality in Reston Area

On Friday, December 29 around 6:20 a.m., a 70-year-old female was crossing the westbound lanes of Baron Cameron Avenue near Bennington Woods Road when she was struck by a car. A 55-year-old man from Stanley, Virginia, was driving a 2000 Saturn station wagon west on Baron Cameron Avenue when Otilia Arriaza, of 376 Reneau Way in Herndon, stepped into the path of his car. Arriaza was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

Police are looking for anyone who may have witnessed the accident, especially a woman who stopped and asked the driver if she could help. The woman left, possibly headed east on Baron Cameron Avenue in a sedan. She was described as white, in her 40s and wearing glasses.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS/8477 or Fairfax County Police at 703-691-2131.

it would seem one old person killed an even older person. 70 years is a long life... but it doesnt sound like a nice way to go.

I was there are got this photo of the gruesome scene before the victim was removed by EMS.

It has taken almost 15 years of intense therapy for me to relive this horrific scene, and to be able to share this with you.
